I've heard Koetter mention a few times now what he believes are the 3 greatest factors that contribute the most to winning are, in order (based on parts and pieces of interviews I've heard of his):
1. Turn Overs
2. Explosive Plays
3. Sacks
Apparently, there are maybe 10 or more factors total that they track with statistics that contribute to the outcome of a game, these are just the top 3 that I picked up on, and quite frankly they make sense.
Now, looking at these in terms of how they affect us with FA and the draft, I would say we're much worse off in explosive plays than we are in turn overs. I would actuality kind of consider Sacks and turn overs very closely related, but the point is, I think we have to look at our player aquisitions with these metrics.
How does said player contribute to creating explosive plays?
Or
What needs to be fixed within a certain unit in order to create more explosive plays?
My opinion is that our lack of explosive plays is mostly due to lack of speed at both the WR and RB positions, followed by predictable or choppy play calling. I think pass protection and blocking is the 3rd factor affecting explosive plays.
Therfore, we need to focus on Offensive weapons who can gain large chunks of the field at any given time.
Who are those explosive players in your opinion?
