Flores firing was pretty weird tho AND he's been pretty damn good in Minnesota.
And, like many have said, some guys are simply better as coordinators than they are HC's.
That's my thought with Bowles.
Without Coen, this is a 4-5 win team this year.
Yeah agreed but I'm not even sure Bowles is DC material anymore. Put him in the front office and call it a day.
Agreed.
Flores firing was pretty weird tho
Basically proven by the NFL investigation.
and one claim made by Flores - that the Rooney Rule process is a sham - is not only proven true by the Bellicheck text but it’s true just by basic common sense and understanding how hiring works.
I don’t know that the flawed Rooney process equals racial discrimination though
Yup. So this whole "the media is to blame" stuff for me is tone deaf. I'm not saying they handled it well either but it's pretty clear the firing was a shit show and deserved to be exposed. And it also showed that race did in fact and does in fact play a factor whether we want to dismiss it or not.
It's not that they fired Flores, it's how they did it.
Ryan Fitzpatrick, a guy that’s well respected around the league, spoke on this recently.
His firing had nothing to do with race. But he said it did, the media ran with it, and people still believe it. Do with that what you will.

A convenient way to not address the topic because it’s a tough topic

This is “the media is to blame”
Flores doesn’t allege he was fired because he was black

Didn't say it was due to race. I said it was handled weird/poorly.
Race goes into consideration when hires are made or firing... It's part of PR.
The court of public opinion matters.
It's what Kaep never got another job. Not worth the headache for a team. Part of PR.
He was blackballed. Was he blackballed strictly due to his race? No
Did it play a factor? Of course... But not that "he's black" but rather what his protest meant as a black person to the topic at hand etc.
The media is in large part of the public and how they feel.
Rain supposed to wrap up in DC prior to kickoff.
While it has been an issue in the league’s past, it’s almost outrageous to think it to be a motivation for hiring/firing in the league today. Think Todd Bowles has addressed it as well.
It’s about results.
PERSPECTIVE - "With 39 TD passes on the season, Mayfield needs five against the Saints in Week 18 to top Tom Brady’s single-season franchise mark set in 2021."

Yes agreed. I don't think Bowles firing is gonna be made to be about race
The Bucs had an insane 41 minutes of possession today. That comes from converting 3rd down on offenses with the defense also doing well on 3rd downs
Overall, the Buccaneers rang up 551 yards of total offense, marking the third time this season they have surpassed 500 in a game. That is tied for the second-most such outings in a single season in league history, just one behind the 2020 Dallas Cowboys, who had four 500-yard games.
Coen cooking...

To Bowles credit, he’s refused to play the race card on the matter. I may not love him as a HC, but he’s a stand-up dude.

Nobody is playing the race card with him. Top to bottom... So no reason for him to bring it up
