Great win today! Ducky Irving was a beast!!! 🤣 Now get this W Washington!
One thing that I think doesn't get mentioned enough, and that I think will allow the Bucs some leeway is it pertains to the handling of a potential Bowles removal as HC if they do decide to go that route is the fact that the team is so hands on, and proactive as it pertains to diversity hires and practices.....Between launching "the academy "for helping develop minority coaches, and the hiring of the first female assistant coaches, not to mention being tied with Oakland for hiring the most minority coaches in league history they've gone out of their way to promote diversity and inclusivity.
panthers are awful, so the saints. we just can‘t screw it up anymore! and thank you washington dc!
something else, was that really PI on that last play before FG in dc? huge decission, IMHO wrong one
While it has been an issue in the league’s past, it’s almost outrageous to think it to be a motivation for hiring/firing in the league today. Think Todd Bowles has addressed it as well.
It’s about results.
To Bowles credit, he’s refused to play the race card on the matter. I may not love him as a HC, but he’s a stand-up dude.
Nobody is playing the race card with him. Top to bottom... So no reason for him to bring it up
He didn't bring it up, the media did - as they almost always do, which is the point. Do you not remember this reporter asking him about it specifically? To his credit, he shot it down immediately:
Bowles then was asked about the impact of representation and what it means for aspiring coaches who are minorities to see NFL coaches who "looks like them" and possibly "grew up like them."
"Well, when you say, 'They see you guys,' and 'look like them and grew up like them,' it means that we're oddballs to begin with," Bowles said. "I think the minute you guys stop making a big deal about it, everybody else will as well."
There will always be the fringe on both sides, but he's mostly right.
He didn't bring it up, the media did - as they almost always do, which is the point
Its a bad point
The media didn't create the issue. Bowles was NOT asked the question out of the blue.
The question comes UP . . . . because there are LAWSUITS fighting the alleged discrimination. The article you link INCLUDES THIS:
"In February, former Dolphins head coach Brian Flores filed a class-action lawsuit against the NFL and several teams alleging racial discrimination in its hiring practices. Wilks, who was the Arizona Cardinals' head coach for one season in 2018, and Ray Horton, an NFL assistant since 1994 who interviewed for the Tennessee Titans' head-coaching job in 2016, later joined Flores' suit as plaintiffs."
This is why Bowles specifically references Wilks
"Wilks got an opportunity to do a good job, hopefully he does it. And we coach ball, we don't look at color."
The racial discrimination issue is NOT a media creation.
It iss real. One of the basic claims made by Flores and Horton and Wilks is TRUE . . . . proven by the Bellcheck text. (and basic common sense)
if you want to say the flawed Rooney process is NOT racial discrimination that is a very fair point, but to suggest that Bowles is a "stand up guy" for not "playing (what a word) . . playing the race card" and IMPLY that the whole issue is a media creation . . you're just wrong
AND THE PROOF IS RIGHT IN THE ARTICLE YOU LINKED
Great summary of the offensieve output
Tampa did what it needed to Sunday against the Panthers, taking early control of the game, withstanding a strong push from Carolina and finishing strong in a 48-14 blowout. Baker Mayfield was dialed in with five touchdown passes and 359 passing yards, the fifth most he’s had in a regular-season game, slaughtering the Panthers every time they brought extra pressure. You almost couldn’t have asked for a better offensive performance, even against a struggling Panthers’ defense. Mike Evans had two TDs and 97 yards, now within 85 yards of his 11th-straight 1,000-yard season. Backup tight ends Payne Durham and Devin Culp combined for 88 yards and a TD with Cade Otton out of the lineup. The run game produced 202 of the Bucs’ 551 net yards of offense"
Great to see two back up TEs heavily involved

This is 2 years old and it was one member of the media asking it.
The left overplays race, and the right downplays race.
It's the circle of life.

Further... Bowles has been given multiple chances at head coach (and coordinator) in the NFL so of course he's not going to feel the victim.
He answered it well, and dismissed it BUT if he had felt like he's been not hired (or fired) due to race he'd probably express that.
Comparing Flores who got fired in a crazy way vs Bowles who hasn't is just comparing apples to oranges.
Again the left exaggerates the issue and the right dismisses it. As always, it's somewhere in the middle.
If Bowles gets fired it will have NOTHING to do with race and everything to do with production on the field.
I want him gone anything short of the NFCCG.
I also want him gone if it means losing Coen.
But there are many factors at play.
The dude is head coach of this team and Bucs were supposed to be shit after brady
he had them at back to back division champs (potentially)
of course we see the offense has carried the team led by baker
Are you suggesting there will be no sports talk shows, Steven A, etc talking about Bowles unjustifiably losing his job.
Somehow Dan Campbell keeps his job after another playoff exit but Bowles doesn’t?
the front office is not firing Bowles this offseason
If Bowles gets fired it will have NOTHING to do with race and everything to do with production on the field.
Ironically its an other Bucs head coach: Dungy
The meaningful connection between the Rooney Rule and Tony Dungy was the lack of opportunity he had BEFORE the Bucs game him a shot at HC, but his termination is often recalled as leading to the creation of the Rooney Rule. Any Bucs fan knows he was NOT fired because of his race
Are you suggesting there will be no sports talk shows, Steven A, etc talking about Bowles unjustifiably losing his job.
Precisely, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it pervade into the national media - not just sports media. They freakin' love it.
If Bowles gets fired it will have NOTHING to do with race and everything to do with production on the field.
I don't think anyone here disagrees with that. What we are saying and you are downplaying is what the national media will be saying about firing a black man that won his division two (possibly three) years in a row. You and others don't think it will be an issue that's raised, while those of us can definitely see it as an issue that uninformed media will raise.
I hope we get the opportunity to see who is right.

Somehow Dan Campbell keeps his job? Wut
They might win 14 games and get the 1 seeds with more injuries than any other team.
What a wild comparison

I need both of you to say this with me:
Stephen A Smith is not "the media".
His job to to say wild/stupid shit to get people like us to talk about it and complain et al.
ESPN is TMZ for sports. It's not "the media". It's a massive for-profit corporation that wants to make as much money as possible by getting as many views as possible.
The steamier the take, the more clicks, the more money.
If the MSM were talking about it you'd have a point.
I need both of you to say this with me:

Post of the Decade
Falling down lmao
