Don't think Wilson and Kaepernick are top 10 QBs, which gives credence to the notion that I'm a moron

hit the nail on the head, buddy

I could see Kap only being top 16. But Wilson is definitely a guy I want leading my team.

Great defense.Great running game.Mobile QB that can extend plays and improvise.Sounds like the Bears under Lovie Smith. I think the OP gets his wish. (It's my wish too!)

Don't think Wilson and Kaepernick are top 10 QBs, which gives credence to the notion we can win with Glennon. The negative is that they both makes plays with their legs. Positive is that Glennon is a better pure passer than both of them. People will lose their minds reading that but fact is they're on stacked, QB friendly teams which gives the impression they're better than they are. We might have the talent in the secondary to match Seattle, although they have an elite FS and we have two SS (Dominik logic). Drafting Jake Matthews is a big step in matching them on offense.

If you judge by QBR, Wilson was #7 and Kap #10 in the league for the 2013 season.

The QBR stat is garbage

no Oline in Chicago, no Lombardi for Lovie!you need a top 10 QB to be a perennial contender, but you still win playoffs game and the Lombardi in the trenches! Battle is in the trenches, good DL stop the run and create turnovers and good Oline makes your QB & RB's looks better!QB, DL and OL are the fondation... having the three makes winning the war easy!

How were those teams built?

Power running attack, mobile QB, strong OL, deep DL, deep secondary, great tackling, lights out special teams.

we tried this plan just last year, for the most part. Both those teams have done some real good things, and both have gotten lucky with some things. I agree we need to overhaul our OL , but I don't think it's easy to get lucky with qb/RB like they did.  Let's invest (again) in our lines and go from there.

I agree with this completely and have stated similar in other threads.  You won't find many others that agree with you around here though.  Most want one of those shiny running QBs that rely way too much on their legs (and have since peewee football) and really aren't that great of a QB if you get contain. As to the OP games are won and lost in the trenches.  That has never and will never change.  Build the lines and we will win.

Wow; totally agree with BOTH posters here. I'll add one thing; Special K and Wilson both appear to think throw first, run as a last resort, and remain very disciplined in that framework of their offense. Both have excellent blocking. Cam Newton I get the sense although he's a better pure passer than both, is used too much to run the ball. Bottom line, a QB can use the legs SPARINGLY, but let's not make a habit of it. With Cam, I think it still is a habit, although I'll add he's much better staying with a pass this year.

You're missing the point. SF and SEA have the two best rosters in the NFL outside of QB. So when you put even average QBs in the lineup they look great. And you get people like Muscle Hamster putting Kaepernick ahead of Luck. Nevermind Kaepernick took over a team that had a 7 point lead in the 4th qtr of the NFC Championship and Luck took over a 2-14 team.  If Luck was on the 49ers they would have went minimum 14-2 and would be a 10-14 point this weekend. If Kaepernick was on the Colts they would be picking top 10 (Browns would, you get the point).

Valid arguement for sure, as long as the  QB has WEAPONS to throw to AND the QB can hit them. LOL; Peyton Manning or Tom Brady wouldn't work, I guess... In the AFC, it's the battle of old obsolete statues for the championship...  ;D

I agree too. Kap simply isn't that good. His mobility makes him better than average, but on a bad team he would be nothing special. The 49ers are just a great team in all three phases and well coached. That's why they win. Nobody's got it better than them.  ;)I don't agree that any average QB would look great though. He is still above average and without an above average QB the 49ers would not be in their 3rd Championship game in three years.

He's the NFC Flacco.  He "guides" a very talented team to wins, but once both him and Wilson get paid we will see who is a real leader on the football field.

I think he has much more potential than Flacco.....he just isn't that good yet. His decision making is not where it needs to be for him to be in the same conversation as a guy like Luck. He could be in the future, but he isn't right now.

I think his athletic talent has a higher ceiling than Flacco...but Jumpball Joe does seem to have some ice in his veins during the playoffs.  It befuttles me how much better he is in the playoffs than he is during the regular season.
