Special K has much better weapons to throw to than Wilson at this point. Seattle may have an edge in the run game. Seemingly the 2 best teams in the NFL.
Seattle offense is terrible. They will get blown out by the Broncos if they make the SB. I would like to build a defense like Seattle. But keep that Offense away.
Emulating other teams is NOT a winning formula. Always one step behind the times. If we want a good team, lovie has to come up with good management within his own schemes. ...What do WE do well, ...then build on that.
I agree too. Kap simply isn't that good. His mobility makes him better than average, but on a bad team he would be nothing special. The 49ers are just a great team in all three phases and well coached. That's why they win. Nobody's got it better than them. ;)I don't agree that any average QB would look great though. He is still above average and without an above average QB the 49ers would not be in their 3rd Championship game in three years.
They went 13-3 in 2011 with Alex Smith throwing for 3144 yards and 17 TDs.

Alex Smith has been a top QB over the last 3 years. Where have you been? His completion rate has been around 65%, he doesn't throw picks, his QB rating is top 10, and he has ran for over 750 yards. He is an above average QB that makes smart decisions and has the mobility needed to make up for any short comings. You think he is average?
Below average. Did he become a "top QB" or did he start playing for two really good coaches with pro-bowlers all over the place.
He had the same players around him before Harbaugh. Only thing that changed was coaching. Smith has been a top QB three years in a row for two different teams. Make excuses all you want, but he has finally emerged and is playing very good football. I wouldn't put him in the top tier "elite" catagory, but he sure as sh!t isn't below average.
I like how the Seahawks took the hard road to build their current team. Pete Carroll and John Schneider made 55 player transactions in the first 4 months of being hired. They were very successful, finding diamonds in the rough, which may explain why we hired Eric Stokes. High roster turnover usually spells failure.
These teams are really tough. Great game.
Hated to see Bowman go down like that. Horrible. Great game though.
both teams have benefitted from a cheap qb which has allowed them to spend elsewhere. (Bucs currently have that same opportunity) I think the 49er window will last longer based on their historic ability to accumulate draft picks to constantly restock the system. Regardless of their success, I think it would be in their interest to sell out and jump to the top of the draft for a player like Watkins.

Thank YouWhen I saw the title I assumed that this whole thread would be about using the model of a low cost qb (which is something we have in place). Look at the Seahawks. They signed the top two UFA DEs available last year because they have a competent QB who makes less than 1 mil a year. If you compare that with a team like the Ravens who signed Flacco to a mega deal last year and then didn't have the cash to keep their good FAs like Boldin and Elerbe it seems like a good plan to see what we have in Glennon. I think that Glennon will allow the Bucs to remain big players in free agency for a few years and that even if he is middle of the road production wise its much better than having a guy like Flacco, Stafford, Romo, Vick, Eli, or Cutler and paying them 10 times more without getting a significant upgrade in production.I would rather take that cash and spread it out like Seattle and San Fran have.A third round pick who is a decent starter in the NFL is a very valuable player.

Expect high turnover for the Bucs as well. The Seahawks went the route they did because they felt it was the best way to accelerate the curve in terms of players fitting the schemes.

Seattle has more than a competent QB. Wilson finished with the #7 QB rating this season and #4 in 2012. He's very good. Glennon finished with the #21 QB rating in 2013. He has to get a lot better to reach Wilson's level.

"Competent". 1. Having the necessary ability, knowledge, or skill to do something successfully.Competent means good lol. I'll say it again in language you understand. Russel Wilson is good and doesnt get paid much. Thats a winning model for building a team in the nfl. I think glennon could be good enough to win with a great team. Which is what wilson has. A great team.
