He hasnt sought Olineman in the draft because on paper we've been good every year before the season.
Dom has specifically stated that he doesn't believe in drafting OL at all. That he wants tape of them on a pro team before he signs them because he feels you cant properly evaluate them based on college. It's not because we "look good on paper before the season".
Can you find me the link to that, because he should be fired for that statement alone. Heck, you don't want to FA up your line because it is expensive you want to be drafting guys and rolling them in as cheap albor. You pay one or two studs on the line and surround them with cheap but competent talent.
ill vouch for that statement. He did say it.
Fulton was also drafted during the few short months we were planning on being a ZBS team and the scouting reports on him I remember stated he was only a fit for a ZBS. Horribly ran organization this has been.
Dotson continues to rank as the number 1 RT in the league while Davin continues to be the lowest ranked guard in the league. Davin remains just terrible and is a huge problem for this offensive line. Nicks back with Merredith on the right would be a decent spot to start.
At this point Nicks ever being "back" is a fantasy.

Agreed, however, he's "back" on the payroll next year so he azz better be "back" at LG playing at a higher level that most starters.
hire an OC, and use all the draft picks on the o-line.
best strtegy yet.

Dal, I can't find the link, but I can back up Pepsi's quote. Dom did say this, however, it was years ago and peoples opinions do change. I believe that the draft is a team effort and Dominik's opinion is just one of many that create a draft board each year. So while this might have been true several years ago, I'm not certain it's still how he feels.

This isn't the first year Davin has been the worst rated guard in football...which begs the question, why is he so highly touted?

Former pro bowler is my guess

Seems like a chicken or egg scenario, is he highly touted because he made the probowl , or did he make the pro bowl because he's highly touted. Davin has played like garbage for years IMHO
Davin made the pro bowl off hype of being an R1 pick. He's never played to that status. His inconsistency in pass blocking makes me mental and he's awful at most run blocking. I've said for years what he does best is pull and hit guys at the second level - translation if he's hitting smaller guys he's good but when he has to block ina phone booth he's also crappy.
Before anyone gets over excited about multiple high draft picks on Oline, let us take a certain Gabe Carimi as a very relevant reminder that even drafting an Olineman in the first round is not an instant formula for success.

its safer than most positions.
