But I thought the O-Line was fixed once Meridith was put into the line-up?  The way some posters here talked about him you have to wonder, why did he get abused so badly today that he was benched.  Oh, I know, once we put Larsen and Carimi in, then it will be fixed right?  As soon as people (especially Dom) realize that there simply isn't very much NFL talent on the O-line the better. I've been calling for high picks to be used on the O-Line for the last 3 years only to be told by the wanna be GM's that Larsen and Meridith and the other no names were the answer.  Now I hear, move Dotson to LT. HA!  He would get lit up on the left.  This team needs a TRUE LT and the only place to get that is with a top draft pick.  As much as I would love a stud DE or WR or TE, the 1st pick this year should be OT.

Davin and TB are good, not great but good. If they depart, the entirety of the O-Line stable left behind is a lot weaker. Unless a quality FA can be brought in to replace them, they should both be resigned. Remember folks, if the new CBA is as has been described, no more funny money, then teams will be able to cut a player outright and not suffer catastrophic cap hits. So sign them both to 3 or 4 year deals (Unless that much better FA is brought in) then start drafting their replacements]. If either or both step up their game, it's a Bucs win. If a newly drafted player steps up and becomes a starter, Bucs win. If the drafty assumes the depth role because Lee, or Hardman or someone else currently on the roster beats out Davin or TB, Bucs win. The only real way I see a negative for the team is signing one to an absolutely stupid Haynsworthless type deal or if they are just let free with no effort to resign them and no other talent brought in.

So you see scarecrow, there it is, it nice pretty colors for you..Today I've been calling for high picks to be used on the O-Line for the last 3 years+05 July 2011So sign them both to 3 or 4 year deals (Unless that much better FA is brought in) then start drafting their replacements]=True statement.  So scarecrow, not sure what you are really trying to do besides some lame fabrication for the sole purpose of trying to call me out, but you have yet again, failed miserably.  You really should stick with your intellectual equals like rocks and slugs instead of trying to hang with adults.  I know you are desperate to repair your sullied reputation, especially after you cowardly welched on that bet in clear view of the Red Board, but you really need to learn how to just let it go.  I know, you are in ever burning butt hurt pain knowing, if you just had that little bit of courage, that little bit of dignity, that little bit responsibility to follow through on a promise, you would have shown up and been a winner.  Instead, you just have to live with being forever labeled a cowardly loser welch desperate to somehow try and get revenge on me.  Now, it is the holiday season, I'm full of good will today and I'm willing to offer, yet again, an olive branch.  So, in the spirit of the holiday season, I give you the gift of forgiveness.  I forgive you and promise not to hold against you your acts of the past. I will no longer mention them nor belittle you, no matter how easy you make it. Of course, this is all dependent on you.  Should you weakly flail at me again, I will of course just b!tch slap you down again, like I have so many times now.  Merry Christmas young man.

Is Cyril Richardson worthy of a top-10 selection? I really havent watched enough film on any of the recruits yet.The reason why is because I see a lot of OT in the top 20 but no OG at all and as far as I am concerned, OG x2 is the biggest need we have on this entire football team. While everyone around here seems to be focusing on Penn and Zuttah as the weak links, I watch Zuttah on every single play and he is having a good year. Penn is having a tough year because of the competition we are facing. Zuttah and Penn do have their break downs, I would estimate their bad plays to be less than 10% of their overall snaps played. Dotson is probably playing at a slightly higher level. But when you look at OG...........its mind boggling how bad they are. Meredith gets beat almost half the time he drops back into pass protection and his run blocking is good when he completes his assignment (blocks someone) which is apparent he doesn't always do. Davin Joseph is the worst professional football player I have ever seen in my life, and i have seen some doozies. You are talking about a guy who blocks his man in pass protection about 10% of the time. He effectively blocks LB and DB in the second level, but he can not RUN block a DL to save his life. He doesn't usually even try. He is atrocious! http://standingosports.wordpress.com/2013/08/24/scouting-report-baylor-og-cyril-richardson/ Scouting Report: Baylor OG Cyril RichardsonPosted: August 24, 2013 by Jack Andrade in Football, NFL Draft Name: Cyril RichardsonRichardson isn’t getting the hype he deserves…yetPosition: OGSchool: BaylorClass: Senior (RS)Height: 6’5”Weight: 335 Cyril Richardson is a versatile Offensive Line prospect who probably projects best as an Offensive Guard.  He has played both Guard and Tackle in his time at Baylor and has been a lot more successful on the inside.Richardson was a 3-star recruit in 2009 according to Scout and Rivals, and was redshirted in his first year at Baylor.  He earned some solid playing time at OG as a redshirt freshman in 2010, and was then moved to Right Tackle for the 2011 season.  Richardson had an okay season in 2011 but was helped significantly by the brilliance of Heisman winning QB Robert Griffin III.  The Baylor coaches then decided to move Richardson back inside to guard for 2012 and he was dominant at times.Richardson is a balanced Guard skills-wise and is one of the favorites to be the first interior Lineman off the board in the 2013 draft.  Richardson has a lot of experience as a redshirt Senior and it’s expected that 2013 will be a year for him to take the next step as a high-end OL prospect. Here’s how Richardson stacks up in terms of what NFL teams will look at:Technical Pass Blocking: Richardson is a good pass blocker and his wide frame makes it nearly impossible to get around him on the inside.  He is strong and gets a good bend, and with his size and strength he never gets driven backwards by a bull rush.  He allows some penetration on stunts and more complex blitz schemes because he needs to get his hands on the defender and engage in order to be effective.  He is much better in a confined space in a 1-on-1 than he is in space and having to read the rush and make his decisions.  Grade: 8.5 out of 10Technical Run Blocking: Richardson is a mauler at 335 pounds, and his run blocking is simply dominant when he’s motivated.  He was unstoppable in Baylor’s shocking blowout of then #1 Kansas St. last year as Richardson and the O-Line dominated the trenches and allowed Baylor to gouge the Wildcats’ defense on the ground.  On just about every short yardage play in that game Baylor ran either a power dive off LG (Richardson’s side) or a trap over RG and had Richardson pull as the lead blocker.  Richardson has the quickness to pull and can get to the next level and flatten Linebackers.  His strength and size make him a powerful man blocker as well.  His only weaknesses is that he sometimes looks lazy or sluggish on run plays, as if he’s so physically imposing that he doesn’t care to use his hands properly to engage and drive defenders back after landing his punch.  When he feels challenged (those short yardage situations, playing great teams, etc.) you see the focus and refined technique.  In the NFL Richardson will need to learn that there are no plays off.  Grade: 9.5 out of 10Athleticism: Richardson is a typical Guard in that he is quick and agile in short bursts but is not very fast as far as straight line speed goes.  That said, I like his athleticism and he’s effective getting to the next level and pulling across the line of scrimmage.  He isn’t going to wow anyone with his athleticism but he won’t be exposed because of a lack of athletic ability.  Grade: 8 out of 10Size: Richardson has the frame to carry his weight so in that sense he has ideal size being 335 pounds.  At 6’5” he is a bit tall for an NFL QB to be throwing over inside the pocket, but overall I think his size will be seen as a good attribute by NFL evaluators.  Grade: 9.25 out of 10Strength: Richardson has excellent strength and uses his power to drive defenders off the ball.  As I mentioned before, Richardson can get laxidasical at times and he doesn’t have the same strength when he isn’t focused 100%, but that’s a mental issue and not a physical one.  Richardson is a road grader.  Grade: 9.5 out of 10Versatility: Richardson has the ability to play Tackle if necessary, which is good for his draft prospects as teams love O-Linemen who can play multiple positions.  He shows flashes of being a capable zone blocker but is pretty strictly a man blocker at this point and rightfully so with his size and strength.  Grade: 8.75 out of 10Arm Length: Richardson had some success at Tackle and certainly with his height he has above average arm length for a Guard.  Guards don’t need long arms as much as Tackles but I’d say Richardson’s arms are likely pretty long for an interior Lineman.  Grade: 8 out of 10Intelligence: Richardson looks a little lost in space and there are some pass plays on tape where he literally blocks no one because he is so focused on his lane that he doesn’t help out another lineman who needs an extra set of hands to keep a rusher at bay.  Richardson also lacks assertiveness at times in the run game and seems unsure of what he sees in front of him as a lead blocker.  He’s not a stupid player by any means but Richardson doesn’t make plays on tape that showcase an above average football brain.  Grade: 7.5 out of 10Intangibles: Richardson’s intangibles are pretty good but there’s room for improvement.  He isn’t a troublesome kid, so that red flag is non-existent for Richardson.  His laziness at times is an issue that NFL coaches will not tolerate, and I’d also like to see Richardson develop a mean streak to go with his talent.  Logan Mankins is one of the top Guards in football and he’s probably the biggest bully on the field every Sunday when the Patriots line up across from their opponents, and I’d like to see Richardson develop some of that intensity.  He’s not soft by any means, but Richardson is the biggest kid on the playground and he doesn’t always take advantage of that as far as aggressiveness and nastiness.  Grade: 8.75 out of 10Final Thoughts: In the 2013 NFL Draft, the Lions selected a Guard from Kentucky named Larry Warford early in the 3rd round. Like Richardson, Warford was a big mauler of a Guard, and he was a dominant run blocker at the college level.  Draftniks really didn’t have a lot of negative things to say about Warford, other than he needed to get in better shape and refine his technique to be more than just a man blocker.  He was looked at as a potential Day 1 starter and right now it looks like he will be in the starting lineup in Week 1 for Detroit.  I had a 1st round grade on Warford and thought he belonged in the early 20s for all those same reasons.  Richardson is this year’s Warford. They are similar players as far as size and style are concerned, and right now Richardson is flying a bit under the radar on some boards because OG’s are typically undervalued in the NFL draft.  I’ve got a firm 1st round grade on Richardson and I expect him to be an absolute monster in 2013 for Baylor.

As far as Penn goes he has really been unfairly criticized IMO. If you are looking for a replacement who can shut down Aldon Smith and Robert Quinn, you will be searching for a very long time. I am not against upgrading any position, but Penn is not the biggest problem we have on OL, not by a long shot.

Richardson could potentially be a good pick in the 2nd round.

I don't remember where I heard it, some draft prediction show probably, but supposedly guard is very deep this year.  Yes no? And in regards to Penn, for several years now, Penn has swooned at the end of every season.  As he gets older it won't get better.  And should the bucs see the playoffs, will his play drop even further?  Either way, a true franchise OT is most often found with a top 10 pick. If Matthews is there, he should be the selection.
