i like most of the offseason so far but will be disappointed if Licht don't sign a good safety in FA.
imo the draft class at the position is Meh... and the FA market was really good!
Branch is a very good prospect but i don't like the value of the position in the 1st round... unless it's a generational talent, you should pass on RB, TE, iOL, ILB and S in the 1st round!
so easy to fix the position in FA, every year there is starting material available for $3-5M/year (Jabrill Peppers, Mike Edwards, Tashaun Gipson... in 2022: Xavier Woods, Anthony Harris...) or $6-10M/year (Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, Vonn Bell, Juan Thornhill, Jimmie Ward, Jordan Poyer, Donovan Wilson, Marcus Epps, Julian Love... in 2022: Tyrann Mathieu, Justin Reid, Marcus Maye, Jordan Whitehead...)... the elite cost max $14-16M/year (Jessie Bates this year, Marcus Williams last year) when the average OT sign for $16-20M/year.
give me an OT and some Passrushers over any Safety in the first two days of the draft and sign John Johnson III, Taylor Rapp or Adrian Amos (+ Logan Ryan)!
@the-freeman - I totally agree. I’ve always hated the value of a safety in the 1st round. We’ve gotta go outside pass rusher or OT. And we have needs at both.
