I’ve called it since the end of the year, Kancey is as explosive as any DL in this year’s draft. Gets off the snap immediately. And has the explosion that the great ones have. I’m happy. Could be a steal.

Gerald McCoy was explosive.

So.... what's your point?

Great highlights but mediocre film. It's feast or famine. He's in the backfield or on his back.

Trenches pick and I love it. Well done, Licht.

We needed more speed and pass rush on defense….CHECK!

Now get an OT, Edge, and a RB to pair with White.

Two real pressures (screens when the linemen are releasing him don't count) and absolutely dominated in the run game.

I preferred Bryan Bresee. It will be interesting to watch and compare the two guys, as the Saints drafted Bresee 10 picks later. Hopefully this won't be another Adrian Clayborn/Cam Jordan situation and the Bucs got the best of the two.

The size is a concern for me but I'm guessing they liked his versatility a lot.

Licht is committed to this front 7

Kancey- #19 overall

Vea- #12 overall, 4 years, $71M

Hall- #33 overall

JTS- #32 overall

White- #5 overall

David- Not his pick

Barrett- $21.2M cap number

This is where he put the resources, this defense better dominate.

Same here. Breese is bigger and can get after it, more balanced player.

I did notice though Bucs struggled to defend against the run on zone/stretch type schemes. Kancey will be fine laterally so he will help there but I'm deeply concerned about POA run schemes.

Seems like his run defense is his weakness

him and vea will sure get after the qb though.

will be a help for jts + Barrett as well.

Great pick, like to see him on the edge like Freeney at times. The guy has the it factor.

@detrimental - I don’t disagree. But we’ve had the Bresee types here for awhile. I like that they are looking at a guy with a different talent base. We need quickness and speed. We have BIG lumbering guys all along that line already.

That's true, having different body types definitely helps give teams different looks. I am excited about his pass rush potential that get off is elite, in addition, he's a great finisher. I think he compares favorable to Grady Jarrett more than Donald.

Great pick...the Bucs need to create interior pressure and take some pressure of Vita. They tried with Hicks, but he was clearly washed up. This kid if fast, young, hungry and sounds like he wants to be great.

Hall showed a little flash as a rookie, but was given limited reps. I think they bring Ghloston back and with the addition of Gaines, the DL looks much better today than it did at the end of the season.

They still need an edge rusher as insurance for Shaq. They could also use another TE and S.

Hoping in round 2 they go BPA at Edge, TE or S.

Although I’ve been hoping for the Kancey pick, this doesn’t change the fact that we should push to resign Hicks. Rookie DTs don’t normally jump right in and produce. There are still huge question marks as to if Hall will ever. We need Hicks to handle a big load this year while the young guys keep working.
