Something I brought up to Coach on Friday was the way we flipped a switch defensively in 2016, coming off a bye week.
We started out terrible that season, including a road stomping in the desert against the Cardinals. A game so bad it led Winston to get black out drunk and order that infamous Uber ride.
After we came back from an early by week, the defense got hot and we went on a 5 game win streak.
I asked Dirk how much of that was on communication and scheme awareness, he agreed that it was the main contributor.
The biggest problem on defense is the lack of communication, and players not being on the same page, blowing assignments.
I'm not saying we are poised to lead the league in defense after the bye, the way we did in 2016, but if the young guys can get the scheme down over the next couple of weeks, we can flip that switch again.
At least that's what I'll be hoping for.
