Dude is saying all of the right things. Hopefully he will back up his words with production on the field.
Dave Canales used the phrase "no synonyms" a few times today to explain the importance of coaches and players all speaking the same language. So that's a guiding belief, a mantra, a creed, a tenet.
Per auman
Pete Carroll on new Bucs offensive coordinator Dave Canales, an assistant with him in Seattle since 2010: “He understands the game, it comes easy to him, and he has a brilliant mind about offense, scheme, approach and principle.”
Dave Canales on RB Rachaad White: "You see his attitude...just see the style that he ran downhill, he was aggressive, the violence that he played with and you go, 'Wow, this guy could be special.' He's got a great skillset that really fits into our system
Dave Canales would only talk about the QB they have in Kyle Trask. He said would make Trask a great distributor of the football and believes he’s athletic enough to run this offense even with bootlegs and waggles.
Dave Canales on Bucs' offense: "We’re going to do things that are simple in concept but are complex in delivery. It’s not going to be a lot of plays. It’s going to be a few plays out of different personnels and different looks so that our execution stays at a high level there. "
Dave Canales said his message to Kyle Trask (and any QB) is to get rid of the ball quickly: "Life's better that way when you do that. You've got these bears chasing you. If you don't like bears chasing you, then get rid of the ham. And that's the football."
On his offense emphasizing the run:
“What it comes down to is you’ve got to have a great system, great coaching up front to just get the play started. And a lot of what you do with having the play actions ... the boots, the keepers, it just slows down the backside just enough to give a great player space, and then, see you later! Some of those runs have come off of that. But it’s also about the attitude, right? Just knowing when to just pour it up in the dark crease and get that ugly 2 and 3 (yards) early on, and that becomes 4 and 5, and then it becomes 12. And being dug in, in your commitment to being able to run the ball in any given situation and any given personnel. That being said, if the run’s not working, we’re going to throw it a little bit more. If the pass isn’t working, we’re going to run it a little bit more. There will be days, if they’re not fitting the runs, we’ll run the ball 40 times. There’ll be days where you’ve got to match up outside with Mike (Evans) or Chris Godwin and we’re blocking him pretty good and we could throw for 400-plus yards. ... It’s just like, do whatever it takes to win, and above all, take care of the ball.”
