On his offense emphasizing the run:

“What it comes down to is you’ve got to have a great system, great coaching up front to just get the play started. And a lot of what you do with having the play actions ... the boots, the keepers, it just slows down the backside just enough to give a great player space, and then, see you later! Some of those runs have come off of that. But it’s also about the attitude, right? Just knowing when to just pour it up in the dark crease and get that ugly 2 and 3 (yards) early on, and that becomes 4 and 5, and then it becomes 12. And being dug in, in your commitment to being able to run the ball in any given situation and any given personnel. That being said, if the run’s not working, we’re going to throw it a little bit more. If the pass isn’t working, we’re going to run it a little bit more. There will be days, if they’re not fitting the runs, we’ll run the ball 40 times. There’ll be days where you’ve got to match up outside with Mike (Evans) or Chris Godwin and we’re blocking him pretty good and we could throw for 400-plus yards. ... It’s just like, do whatever it takes to win, and above all, take care of the ball.”

Dave Canales says he really liked Kyle Trask coming out of college. Says the Bucs are going to help him be a “point guard,” who can succeed by distributing to very good skill-position players. Says it is a quarterback-friendly offense.

Dude is saying all of the right things. Hopefully he will back up his words with production on the field.

Agreed. Dude legit sounded the part.

Breath of fresh air from the low-IQ dolt we had last year.

None of that sounds like his offense will emphasize the run. It sounds like he’ll play on the strength of his team, be it run or pass. What a novel concept.

I try not to get too amped up over press conferences, but damn-near everything this cat says is great.

Again, novel concept.

Far cry from the last moron we had with the OC title.

Marvelous, something else we didn’t see last season from your unemployed buddy.

And that’s still not “emphasizing the run.”

This guy is really a breath of fresh air, indeed. Got me kind of excited about the upcoming season. He clearly understands what needs to be done to turn this ship around. I really like how he talked about running the same plays out of different formations and personnel groups, and doing so while showing the exact same alignment for run and pass. Means he knows how to keep defenses guessing about what we are doing, as opposed to the stupidity we saw the last 3 years with predictable run and pass plays. We feasted on other teams because of our talent, and when that waned a little, we sucked. I don't think our offense is going to have nearly as many issues scoring as it did last year.

I thought it was also obvious from the OC search and what he said that Trask was viewed by those still here as the potential starter and that they plan to develop him and give him a chance to get it done. They need to use this year to see what he can do here so they can either move to fill out needs in next year's draft to make a run, or they can make a run at another QB. I think Trask will get it done, but we'll see.

I’m fine with rolling with trask. But they need to find a reliable complete TE if that is the plan.

You can see why he’s risen through the ranks. Will be fun to watch it play out. Have to love anyone betting on themselves this much.

this response is almost word for word Pete Carroll circa 2020s.

want to be able to run to protect ball, impose will (“attitude”) (“being dug in”), win under any conditions, set up explosives.

Would be great to see If our D can get back to similar mentality

Seahawks under Carroll, Schotty, & Waldron "circa 2020s:"

2020 - 19rd in Rushing attempts, 17th in Passing attempts

2021 - 27th in Rushing attempts, 29th in Passing attempts

2022 - 23rd in Rushing attempts, 15th in Passing attempts

Why would anybody let factual information change their inferior opinions?

Hawks had 3 new starters on the OL , including 2 rookie tackles starting

lost Penny for year wk 5

Homer another back , was on IR twice

Best back was a rookie back

all that being said , they were still top 10 in yards per carry

why would anybody stop you from embarrassing yourself?

basic English says a fact is not an argument or a conclusion (and in your case almost always a non sequitor)

basic math or statistics says “your dumb”

The reference to Pete Carroll cut a 2020s” means when he is under fire for his offensive philosophy beginning with their early playoff defeat to Rams (2020) and then sliding in 2021 and 2022.

our new OCs answer is literally Carrolls answers to people saying he was TOO committed to antiquated run first offense (Russell Wilson’s point). That’s literally the thought behind Waldron

in simple words for you Buggsy with explanations

Good (happy face) news (what your dad watches at 5:00) for Bucs (the team) IF TRUE (the opposite of what you post)

This is the STANDARD write up on

Carroll right after the Rams playoff loss:

They say the definition of insanity is “doing something over and over and expecting a different result.” It seems as though Seattle has been banging their heads against the same wall for six seasons now with little growth in the postseason. Now Carroll says he wants to run the ball more and emphasized that by jettisoning offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer earlier this week. The entire fan base on Twitter is rolling their eyes. In the NFL, it’s “adapt or die” and Seattle’s Super Bowl hopes with this regime are dying.“

IF “YOUR” NOT BRAIN DAMAGED… you will find many examples of Carroll responding to this criticism much like the Canales interview.

for Buggsy … good news if true

no crayon font available so that may be tough for you
