perspective because it was Kaboly who reported that Leftwich was the likely next OC (“Tomlin loves him”) or passing game coordinator.
Yeah. I thought I had read that in the past.
But, if true, it’s not the first time Byron’s tried begging for a job since getting the boot from One Buc Place.
I don’t follow it closely just saw that Kaboly was the guy. Leftwich could be the source lol
Anyway, one sub story is that Arians actually setback (unintentionally) the careers of people he was trying to help. I don’t know how Leftwich gets an OC job when the story of 2022 offense (fair or not) was the perceived inability to diagnose and adapt. That’s an essential skill of an OC
If you take CANALES at his word we are succeeding with half an offense. This is Canales on the LIONS:
"I really regard them highly and have kind of followed their progress over the last three years,” Canales said today at One Buc Palace. “The development of their offense, the run game, the play-action, the attitude.
“It’s really a style that I would love to look like that, eventually, as we put things together and get polished.”
And what is the "style" the Lions?
"The Lions offense was among the NFL's best in running the ball on 1st-and-10 in 2022
One of the big keys to the Detroit Lions offensive success in 2022 came courtesy of an impressive setup on first-down run plays. The ability to reliably churn out decent yardage when running the ball on first downs helped set up QB Jared Goff and the offense to open up the playbook on second and third downs instead of chasing tougher conversions.
The Lions ran the ball 216 times on 1st-and-10 in 2022, according to the NFL’s own statistics. Detroit ran for 4.9 yards per attempt on those 216 attempts on 1st-and-10, netting 1,059 yards."
and this from this season:
"The Detroit Lions will feature two new faces in the backfield in 2023. Gone are last year's top contributors in Jamaal Williams and D'Andre Swift. David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs are the newcomers who are tasked with leading Detroit's run-first offense."
imagine when we actually have a run game?
Don't care what we look like, as long as we WIN! GO BUCS!
Fascinating. Somewhere buried in all the vitriol, this might be relevant. Its Bowles the other night describing his teams identity
“I think when we play as who we are, which is a fast, physical, tough, smart, tackling ballclub, a running ballclub that has some play-action involved, we do ok,” Bowles said.
Maybe who the Bucs aspire to be lol
The Bucs signature win so far is the Saints win. It wasn't that great, BUT in that game they played like the team Bowles describes.
On offense they were balance 33 runs/34 passes. They didn't turn over the ball, were efficient on 3rd down (53%) and red zone and that led them to 26 points.
On defense they did okay against the run making the Saints go 19 rushes to 41 passes. They created turnovers that led to a couple scores.
The Bucs signature loss is probably the Falcons game. That game is sort of the reverse with the Falcons playing the "physical . .running ballclub" role and the Bucs playing more like the Saints
An update on 2023's play selection:
Through the first 7 games of the season, we have more factual evidence to ignore:
247 Pass Attempts
170 Rush Attempts
Quite a few of those are QB runs from either broken-down pass plays or QB kneeling in VFormation, as Mayfield is the second leading rusher in attempts and yards. Doesn't really look like the offense is emphasizing the run. Shocker.
Oddly enough, those numbers doesn't correspond with shameless sack of shit's message for six months. It's not a run-first offense, a run-first philosophy, RRP mindset, establish the run, leaning on the running game, a very conservative run first offense, a more conservative RUN, RUN, PASS approach, or any other bullcrap this pathetic ignoramus posted:
Carroll-style offense would drive some of the fans here nuts
"SEATTLE, Wash. — Throughout his storied history as a head football coach, Pete Carroll has stuck to two core tenets: maximize the team’s defensive potential and establish the running game.
A Pete Carroll offense is RUN FIRST
Yes. Literally. I am a Carroll fan but at one point people referred to his offensive philosophy as RRP… that stand for RUN. Run AGAIN. Pass
Carroll’s run first philosophy actually comes from a CONSERVATIVE belief that you mess things up less when you run and that you “establish the run” to set up explosive plays…
Carroll would rather run than anything
FOR ANYONE WHO CAN READ A BIT (that excludes you Buggsy) there's tons of info out there about RUSSELL WILSON trying to get the Seahawks to open up their very conservative RUN FIRST offense.
Look, I dont even buy into the idea that our first time OC is going to be a Carroll offensive disciple but man its hilarious watching two guys who led the "run on 1st down" complaints now choked down the potential of having a MORE conservative, RUN RUN PASS coordinator
None of these imbecile's posts have come to pass. Does the shameless sack of shit man-up and eat it? Hell no, he doubles down and acts as if he never said any of this. I don't expect any of that to change, so I'll keep mocking the dunce.
Buggsy, unhinged.
weird to associate losing results with offensive philosophy especially on the day the HC says the team is a running team. Lol
Buggsy, get a snickers bar and sit back and listen to Canales
:-)

Today the offense put up 37 points and NOT SURPRISIGNGLY had 63 offensive plays with 31 running plays

Time to look at the final numbers on the season:
568 passes (19th)
439 runs (23rd)
Oddly enough, that's almost identical to the 2022 Seattle Seahawks (573 passes to 425 runs) and vastly different than the 2013 Seattle Seahawks (420 passes to 546 runs) philosophy/play selection. Stunning. There was no "run first philosophy" or any of the other hogwash the loon has been trying to impose on the situation. Simply shamelessly wrong at damn-near every turn.

As usual you have IMPECCABLE timing lol. You must be Mark Sennett's long lost son.
I just posted (thanks to DH) the entire podcast of an interview of Canales. LOL. Its right here for you and anyone else to listen too.
https://www.pewterreport.com/community/the-red-board/mike-evans-record-watch/
Listen to Canales himself.
by the way, the hosts describe him as a candidate for Seahawks HC . . because of his 14 year relationship with carroll and Carroll still being in the building
Buggsy, listen to the PDCAST and gather your courage and come back here and post WHICH coaches on his staff he credits MOST with the succes they have had and what those coaches helped him do.
Or alternatively . . give us the timestamp for when Canales mentions Waldron?
ROFLMAO
Listen to Canales himself.
There are those that are gullible to coach speak and there are those that look at facts. The facts of the situation back up what you've been told for months and are in direct conflict with the pablum you can't stop uttering.
Completely and laughably shameless.
Simply shamelessly wrong at damn-near every turn.
While somewhat unrelated, I love how he has cried numerous times in multiple posts the last few days about name calling.
Yet, continues to call you Buggsy in every post.
The irony is rich.
