Any successful OC is going to get HC offers in the offensive minded NFL
That's why guys like McVay call their own plays. McVay has come straight out and said this
Fire Bowles and hire Monken away from the Rats
Just because everyone keeps asking: The Bucs would not get any compensatory draft picks for the Panthers hiring Dave Canales, only because the NFL requires a minority coach be with his old team for two years to yield comp picks for losing him.

This idea crossed my mind also Mad, I however doubt it happens as it would not look good for them to fire a minority coach that has made the playoffs the past two years in order to do so. I'm VERY torn on this. I strongly feel this team now that Canales is moving on is very much at a crossroads. Bowles time management is very questionable, and never improved at any point through the season or playoffs. I was definitely pissed watching those last 30 seconds run off the clock with a timeout in our pocket solely from the standpoint that it's divisional round playoffs and you fight tooth and nail till the final whistle blows because there is no tomorrow( could have been the miracle at Ford Field ) but we'll never know. We have a QB on a one year deal that performed well above expectations ( did he take a step? was it Canales scheme? ) and we have a coach who is right back to where we were this time last year looking for an OC with only Trask currently under contract, and a head coach who's job security is 50-50 depending on what next years outcome is ( with the team learning yet another offensive scheme ). On top of that the coordinators we wanted to interview last year are by and large now strong candidates for head coaching gigs. Our beloved Bucs, sadly have a history of being a year too late/ or a year too early as it pertains to having a coach in place where they missed out on a clearly better candidate, or having a player in place ( often a QB ) whom was just good enough to cause them to miss out on a player that went on to have an all-pro or HOF type career. Sadly this to me feels like one of those situations.
Bad day for the Bucs
really depends who they replace him with
promoting from within sounds like it would be a huge downgrade
but if we can get either an experienced OC or another up and comer QB coach feel we could be alright
obviously would have been ideal to keep Canales but happy for him to get head coach opportunity

Then they can jump on Ben Johnson from the Lions
Both are tearing it up
He might even be the better choice...
.. and people saying he made Baker the opposite may be the reality... that Mayfield got Canoli a HC job...
he got that 1-31 loser Hue Jackson fired for not playing him then got another loser, Kitchens, his first HC job, who got fired because he sucked

Obviously what Canales got out of Mayfield is a reason he was getting interviews and ultimately the job. But don't forget about Matt Rhule, Mrs. Mayfield. That's three of Mayfield's Head Coaches that were fired, with one of his OC's getting a Head Coaching job. You gotta take the good with the bad, ma'am.

While that could be the case, Canales as of now, has the better track record/storyline.
I wouldn't mind grabbing a Shanahan disciple as Bucs OC...
We could barely get Canales so not sure what type of OC we can get.

That is a valid concern because we have no clue how the Bucs FO and ownership feel about Bowles' future.

Totally arbitrary
Franchise him for the year then..piss him off and make him earn it .... again.... he will
In 2025 he'll get signed by McVay again and make you pay for it
If he had been on the Browns this season with their dominate defense that already beat Rat-More OTR the Browns would have had home field advantage and still be playing
But the Browns are an ignorant franchise
I’m not convinced Bowles will be back. Doesn’t it make sense to go after one of the top tier offensive coaches to lead the team now?
Totally arbitrary
As was your statement.
I’m simply going off the fact that Canales had a huge hand in Geno’s rebirth last season and obviously had a huge hand in Baker’s rebirth this year.
And, whether you want to admit it or not; Canales leaving is a big deal (especially for Baker’s growth and continuity in the offense).
So... do we get a comp pick for this?
Is he technically a minority hire?
*Googles Canales name origin*
