I wouldn't be shocked to see Thad Lewis and Idzik both gone soon, leaving us with only outside candidates (realistically). This is the conundrum that they got themselves into. All I can say is if the Glazers decide to keep Bowles on, he better get a good OC on staff and do better than last season. If he has another 9-8 season with one playoff win, the Glazers will blow him out. Since Dungy and Gruden, they just don't seem to have the patience for a coach they don't see being Super Bowl competitive.
I still wouldn't be shocked if they sat there and pondered the whole situation and realized that if they did do good (similar) next year, they may lose another OC and we're stuck in this vicious circle of new OC's. They might then realize they could go after a hot OC HC candidate who could maintain continuity on offense for years and think that's the route they want to go. Next couple of weeks will be key to what we do going forward.
I keep coming back to the same thought. I hope “Bowles” is looking for an OC…and I also hope, maybe, others higher on the food chain have other goals, like trying to build a dynasty brick by brick. The interesting caveat, of “our times” is the run on younger more charismatic offensive minds to lead the way, with the league leaning more and more to offense, having a younger+ offensive HC, would make it vastly easier to keep the “system” in place…especially for Baker Mayfield. I wanted to see what he could do in year 2 of the same system, but alas, it did not come to pass and C’anales went on to B HC in C’arolina. But, I’ll wait for some magic to happen, or I fear 2010 age as someone mentioned above.
So I'm hearing Dave got him a 6 Year deal. I gotta say great for him and his family. At least if the owner pulls the same crap he's set lol
