Releasing Leonard Fournette, Cameron Brate, and Ryan Succop get the Bucs $8,750,580 in additional cap space

Evans, If the Bucs decided to give him a two-year, $40 million extension they could lower his 2023 cap hit by $11,500,000.

White, at five years and $102.5 million save an additional $2,206,000 on the cap.

Shaquil Barrett ($21,252,941 - current salary). If we restructure we could save:

$9,813,750
  • Current Team Cap Space: $2,996,203

Cutting Leonard, Brate, and Succop: $8,750,580

Restructuring Evans and Barrett: $11,500,000 + $9,813,750 (21,313,750)

Extending White: $2,206,000

Total Savings: $33,019

Add current cap space: $36,218

We BETTER are-sign Lavonte David.. we have the means… extending White does is minimal. Keeping David is invaluable.

So the Bucs are almost 3 million under the salary cap and need to sign a second QB, have 10 million for a draft class and would hope to sign LVD. The Bucs gotta make some more cap space.

I didn't mind the Julio signing if we were going to have an offensive identity that matched it...

You don't go and sign Mason (pass pro), Gage, and Julio... then turn around and draft a rb round 3 and resign Fournette and say we are a power run team after losing Marpet.

The off-season was the heart and the brain not communicating with one another

really well said,

the problem honestly was Brady was a statue. He was getting rid of the ball on record time and the fastest in the NFL. Mostly because our pass pro (Smith, Goedke, etc.) WAS AWFUL!

So we couldn’t do much risk it and got no biscuit because plays couldn’t develop.

What is the Bucs cap situation after signing Mayfield, LVD and Nelson?

BUCCANEERS
• Current Cap Space: $2,996,203

• Cut:
- Leonard, Brate, and Succop: Creates $8,750,580 (Pre-June 1 Cut #’s)
• Restructure:
- Evans and Barrett: Creates $11,500,000 + $9,813,750 ($21,313,750)
• Extend:
- White: Creates $2,206,000

•• Total Savings By above Moves:
- $33,019,000

••• Add current cap space:

- $36,218,000

• Also can, Extend:
- Wirfs: creates $1,742,914

•• FINAL TOTAL CAP IF ALL MOVES DONE:
- $37,960,914 cap space

Have to have $9-10M in cap space to sign the draft picks. Current Cap Space: $2,996,203.

Today we signed (none of them are official yet...):
- Lavonte David: 1yr/$7M
- Anthony Nelson: 2yr/$11M
- Baker Mayfield: 1yr/$8.5M

That's $15.5M for Baker and LVD plus whatever they're paying Anthony Nelson this year. While our current Cap Space is (was) only $2,996,203 and we have to have $9-10M in cap space to sign the draft picks.

So, if Anthony Nelson is making $5M of the $11M this year, add that to the $15.5M and today we spent $20.5M I think?

So, we should be NEGATIVE -$17M against the cap and hence why we need to do some of those above moves...

That sound you hear is JC’s head exploding after reading this from PR

”The Bucs have done so much in free agency with so little in terms of financial resources. Very impressive start for Jason Licht and Mike Greenberg!”

I have no idea how the Saints have already made 8 free agency moves given their cap situation… shocked Jamies got $8M too..

Signed: QB Derek Carr(four years, $150 million)
Re-signed: TE Juwan Johnson(two years, $12 million)

Re-signed: Edge Tanoh Kpassagnon (two years, $6 million)
Re-signed: S J.T. Gray (three years, $9.6 million)
Re-signed: QB Jameis Winston (one year, $8,000,000)
Re-signed: WR Michael Thomas(one year, $10,000,000)
Signed: DI Khalen Saunders (three years up to $14,500,000)
Signed: Nathan Shepherd (three years, $15,000,000)
Signed: RB Jamaal Williams (three years, $12,000,000)

we somehow squeezed under the cap yesterday, some losses but nothing tragical (unless we talk about TB12 retirement) .... we'll see how that develops.

Because they're spending future cap space. Licht and Greenberg are running a Ponzi scheme. This isn't something to be celebrated.

If that’s true, at least they’re actually on the team and contributing for multiple years (Gage, Nelson) and have potential (Mayfield).

Given the dire cal situation, honestly, Licht is making magic happen so far.

the contract stuff is not that interesting to me but just using Nelson as an example aren’t the back years voidable?

That’s the typical set up.

JC ‘s nonsense almost always fails to account for players restructuring (more money up front so “yes please”) and void years and all the other tools to manage an ever growing cap.

we won a Super Bowl. There’s a bill due. Somehow .. the Buccaneers will still be able to field a team

at least that is my guess
