He has nerve damage in his foot/toe that is causing him a lot of pain. This wasn't caused by the MRSA,
I thought I read somewhere that it's not necessarily the MRSA that's the issue. I read (and this could be wrong) that he has nerve damage in his foot and has pain and lost feeling and it changes the way he walks/moves. I don't know if the MRSA and any of the surgery he had with that affected the condition or made it worse or what. I just know there's speculation that he may never be the player he once was. I am sure we will find out soon enough.

based on the comments Lovie made in the Florio interview it sounds as if Nicks is not expected to contribute next season. Florio asked him about the Oline and Lovie said we have a couple good pieces in Penn and Joeseph but that Nicks injury "WILL" hurt us.

I thought he said the Nicks injury hurt the team this year. I didnt hear Lovie say it will hurt us moving forward. It very well may but I just didnt hear him say that
