Huh, this came out yesterday...but I guess we missed it? Maybe it was posted earlier, my apologies if so (not really). http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000482893/article/casserly-winston-not-as-good-as-sam-bradford-out-of-college He doesn't think the pick should be traded...but mostly due to financial reasons...because any team that needs a QB won't be as financially impacted as former busts were..."..While there are concerns over Winston's off-the-field issues, his talent is going to be appealing for a franchise in need of a quarterback. In addition, the change to rookie contracts in the new collective bargaining agreement does limit the Bucs' risk in taking Winston at No. 1, unlike other teams in the past"If you think this guy has the talent, to me, you say to ownership that you know there's an element of risk about maturity, but this guy has the talent -- take him," Casserly added. "If it doesn't work out, the next year you do the same thing, and you're paying for a backup quarterback at that point. To me the decision has changed dramatically when you're not paying the guy $50 million guaranteed."Interesting analysis...because his rookie salary will pay him only $5 million - basically the salary of a back-up QB...there is less financial risk. If you pick Fameis and the same thing happens to him that happened to Sam Bradford (a bust in the making), gets stuck behind a REALLY bad offensive line, causing the starting QB to miss 40% of his career so far - the reduced financial risk, makes this a no-brainer...to a NFL exec. Now, if you're a fan and you've waited for your starting QB to lead your team back to relevance...you're still waiting, you've burned through another few coaches, and your team is threatening to move to Oakland!...but hey, the risk is WAAAAY better than ever!! Go ahead and draft that statue of a QB - don't even WORRY about that offensive line that pulls major vaccum!
