The Cwoboys have all kinds of issues and didnt The Jags QB just reset the market?
I don’t remember this happening against Houston…He's not just a game manager, but he's also not Dan Marino. If he's forced to throw too much bad things will happen.
agreed
this is one reason i worry about Mayfield having so much control over the offense now though

I certainly remember it against Detroit at home.
He didn't have the kind of control in either of those games that he will have this year. That can be a really good thing, but it can also be a really bad thing.
Mayfield was inconsistent playing very much within a system last year. He had times he was stunning and times he was pretty awful. So, did that system hold him back OR did it focus him?
So, did that system hold him back OR did it focus him?
Based on his production over the course of his career, I’d said it was definitely the later.

Maybe. Its definitely one thing that makes this upcoming season so interesting. Was 2023 Mayfield the beneficiary of a QB-friendly system OR or was it that he had turned a corner in his own development. We will get to see.
Once again the parallel may be Seattle. Wilson thrived in the system but then felt it stifled him. He went to the Broncos and . . well
1. who is the better QB? Dak or Mayfield. Obviously the correct answer here is Dak.
There was only one argument.
And, this is it.
lol
”Trask tops them both”

As I had mentioned before, Kyle's living rent free in sooooo many domes.
i thought the same thing in the game day threads last season. Ya know, like when (proud Gator) posters like BucHarbour and Biggs posted things like the running game struggles were on Mayfield too?
:-)
i think the two main issues with Trask from the "Trask Haters" were
1. The draft pick, not the player, was a significant blow to our repeat chances. Jason Licht was having quite the off-season, bringing back the entire starting group, but was still drunk from the boat parade with this selection as well as taking a kick returner in the 4th round. These picks could have gone a long way with the injuries to our secondary and offensive line that year. Could have been the difference between the #1 and #2 seed, not playing in the first round in which Wirfs gets hurt, etc. A valent thought that your 45 year old QB was going to retire, but knowing that this team was going to still try and compete post Brady and not just reset, drafting a guy with the last pick of the 2nd round, really didn't have much high hopes for him aside from what he is doing now, holding a clip board
but even with #1 being history, the big reason is here:
2. The delusion that he was better than Mayfield or performing better than him in camp or is the solution to our problems. While Mayfield was far from perfect, many dismissed what he was doing and that we would have made the playoffs and won a playoff game even with Trask as starter. a bit disrespectful and far fetched. There were some posters that "arrived early" or "over joyed" on the one pass Trask threw...an incomplete spiral in the redzone.
I believe the thought process from the "Baker Bros" was that Baker gave us the best chance to win, far from perfect as he was and that the only playing time Trask should have seen is if the Bucs fell pretty much out of it. I suggested Trask if we were to lose that first Panthers game, sitting at 4-7, losing 5 of 6; if we were to drop another then yeah, wheels have fallen off and let's see what's got in the final 5 games.
but yeah it seems the Trask hate on #2 primarily came as a defense to Baker to the delusional fans thinking Trask could hold his jock strap
3. Gator devotion to Trask became completely over-the-top criticism of Mayfield ("he's handing the ball off the wrong way") and from the same types of posters who mocked Noles fans for support of Winston. Same kind of homerism.
At the end of the season you couldn't even participate in the game day threads because there were basically Gator homers jumping over each other to bash Mayfield over and over again.
And one of those games (Packers) was a PERFECT game by Mayfield. Oops, scratch that . . it was really Canales, not Mayfield. Mayfield just missed open receivers all over the place. LMAO

so being from Philadelphia, i dont know the tribalism nature there with Winston, Trask etc. and Florida college football.
both are likable/rootable guys but it seems with Winston we would start out the season like 2-5 and he would rally some wins to make it close but ultimately we will never in the thick of things playoff wise...and then with Trask, the guy fought so hard just to move up to #2 on the depth chart and the expectations just aren't there. He didnt even give a good competition to a journeyman former bust of a QB in Mayfield. lol the best was pre-season game 3 i think it was when Wolford got hurt and they put Trask back out there in the 4th quarter lol
