Nothing like a punch in the mouth to clear your head. Got mine last night.
The franchise will ultimately be better for it.
sometimes it's scheme, sometimes it's adjustments,
One of the ironic things from yesterdays game is that the Bucs D was hammered by Lamb BUT he was beating the press MAN coverage that many on the board have been calling for. Double-edged sword just like blitzing.
One of the sad things from yesterday's game is that LVD was beaten in COVERAGE a lot. End of an era there too.
Up above you say that Bowles ONLY redeeming trait is that the players dont quit on him. Thats a bit much, but even if that is the belief i"not quitting" is sport of undercut by the fact that same players who do not quit also don't deliver in games they should win. Thats on youth BUT ALSO on coaching.
It was easy to call this game a trap game once we beat the Chargers because that is legitimately a trend with this team
I don't mind getting beat by press man. It's still a QB making a throw, a wr making a catch, and DB with a chance to make a play.
The deep one that Ceedee caught was also a blatant push off they didn't call.
So for me I have no issues with it... Just like going for it on 4th down.
My analytics always depends on your team strength but if you play 2 high safety and press man you'll make more plays and you'll give up more plays... Which I prefer to small ball long drives (like the chiefs do).
Bowles defense adjusted decently in the second half but ultimately Bowles clock management cost us the game and Coen couldn't carry per usual.
Todd Bowles only redeeming quality is his team doesn't quit on him. That's it
who doesn't live for that "YEAAAAAAH" 4/10 lockerroom war cry that he has after wins!
yeah, Bowles, while a nice and rootable guy; the team wins in spite of him.
But i know some think i'm a defender of him but more so, i think we are stuck with him another year so why get upset about it.
Now, Bucs manage to lose to Carolina and Saints at home, then we are talking a different ball game and i think he is gone. but, when most optimistic fans had Bucs at 9,10 wins entering the year, and if he produces that, i just dont think he would have "fell short of expectations" so to speak this year
Sure, we are going to be pissed not making playoffs but it's not like this franchise has high expectations typically.
Why does it seem like mediocre players always have the best game of their careers against our defense? Is this unique to the Bucs and Bowles or do I just notice it because this is my team?

great question
before yesterday the answer from most is probably "soft zone" but yesterday we got killed on the outside playing man. we got killed a lot on the inside by the Cowboys going after LVD
ultimately, this is how the Cowboys press described the game
"Overall, the Buccaneers came out on top on the stat sheet with more yards (411 to 317), more third-down conversions (50% to 33%) and the time-of-possession advantage (32:48 to 27:12). But the Cowboys won the battle in one key category – turnovers. Dallas didn't turn the ball over once while Tampa Bay did so twice, both of the Buccaneers' key errors coming in the fourth quarter."
Coen abandoning the run inside the 30 was a key reason we lost as well.
yes, eventually.Nothing like a punch in the mouth to clear your head. Got mine last night.

While I get that it seems that way, and leaving his name aside, I don’t think DaRon Bland could be classified as mediocre. Why does it seem like mediocre players always have the best game of their careers against our defense? he should be some sort of defensive mind, and his defense is year after year bottom five against the pass… you do not need anything else
Press man did better as a prevent defense than the soft zone. Stop the presses! Bucs run the ball better in the green zone and limit turnovers and they can win most games playing this way.

That is because the personnel he brings in and the schemes he runs are designed to stop the run first.
