Doesn't mean we'd actually pick a QB at #7 tho'. If we could trade down and still get a QB, fine. Just don't see us picking a QB at #7 when we have far greater needs that would NOT filling by picking a QB instead.
I don't get your rational. QB is THE most important position on the field. Glennon showed flashes as a rookie but is far from a sure fire franchise QB. Bringing in a top notch QB at #7 makes sense. IMO I'd prefer an elite OT dropping to the Bucs. Very rarely do you get a shot at draft an Elite OT that will play for you for the next 10 years. Having Robinson, Mathews or Lewan anchoring LT for a long time would be really nice.
Because if Glennon flips on the switch and we have 2 franchise QB's the dummys here don't know what to do but the team will lose.
i dont think it would look like 2 franchise qbs from the outside. if glennon wins, we have a guy that couldnt beat out a 3rd round giraffe with concrete cleats. if the new guy wins, we still are trying to trade a 3rd round giraffe with concrete cleats whom lovie smith and jeff tedford hates and who couldnt complete a pass in the 2nd half. who wants that guy? and, once you trade either one you have lost depth.i would really like manziel, but i dont trust him. i like bridgewater next, but i just wonder about him at the next level. bortles-carr scare me more than anyone. garrapolo is the flavor of the month with carney hands.

If you have a franchise QB and a top 15 defense, you're going to win.
Derek Carr reach here we come.....
Followed by him not being able to beat out Glennon as the starter. That would be great! Reach in the 1st and immediate flop.

so are you saying you don't trust the judgement of Lovie, his GM, and his OC?
Derek Carr will work with ex-Bucs OC Mike Sullivan in advance of his pro day.
If Houston takes Clowney then the likelihood of a QB dropping to #7 grows.
Clowney suits a need and he is the best of the bunch....

1. you won't know if Glennon is a franchise QB till about 3 or 4 years; the Bucs obiviously aren't going to wait that long....2. how can you have two franchise QBs when one is always on the bench?

Does the likelihood of a team(s) jumping up for a qb grow, too? The compensation gets easier...
I don't know...J'ville is sitting pretty...I think they got a Johnny Manziel woodie...Cleveland and Oakland will split between Bridgewater and Bortles....Bucs will go D-Line the first round and OL or Jimmy Garoppolo in the second....Forget Derek Carr, he padded his stats with a ton of bubble screens....

I think he simply meant while qb1 is starting we don't know about qb2's ability yet. When Favre was starting, people may have thought Rodgers could be good, nobody knew that for a factSimilar to Steve Young, while he rode the pine with Montana starting. Young was a talented prospect that floundered in Tampa.

Right. But how is the argument that Glennon COULD flip the switch, a reason not to take a QB early?
Favre-RodgersBrees-Rivers
for these 2 situations...favre was established at the time...seems to me that needs to be a must.and what was the compensation for brees once it was decided to go with rivers?
Right. But how is the argument that Glennon COULD flip the switch, a reason not to take a QB early?
because having 2 alleged franchise QBs never seems to materialize or be worth it to the team.
