I like Vincent Jackson and think Evans would be a good player in the NFL too. Really do think they could work together as a #1 and #2 like the Bears have with Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. However, we gave Mike Williams a nice extension and is also a good player. And he really isn't a slot guy so Evans wouldn't be an ideal pick. Drafting ASJ would be a better idea. Gives us a threat across the middle who can also block pretty good.
Yeah, if you've got a loaded team you can build for the future. But that bears no resemblance to our current situation. You don't ignore the holes in the roof and build a second bathroom.
id rather have Watkins if we went that route but if Evans is a stud who cares in the longrun?

If were trying to win games now, Evans impact wouldn't take affect until Jackson is off the team. I think Watkins is the only WR we should draft in the first round...maybe even consider Marquis Lee.
I'd put slot receiver high on the list, right behind DE. And when I say slot receiver I don't mean some dude you stuck in the slot position, I mean an actual slot receiver. After those two, we need a TE, and another DE, and multiple OL, and another CB, and another QB, and then another DT for rotation, and then maybe ten or twelve spots behind that a third possession receiver.
Anyone else think we could move james or rainy to slot occasionally? Or are their hands or speed subject to question for the position.

Rainey seems like a guy we can slot or wing for sure. Not sure about his route running right now but if guys like Hester can learn to be a slot so can he. I don't think he so the answer at the slot spot but he is part of an answer potentially.
Atlanta did it, and it semi worked for them. Idk.
Atlanta had only Roddy White, while we have Jackson and Williams. Don't get me wrong, we need another WR. However, we need a lot of other positions improved, and if we spend a top ten pick on a WR, he's got to be of a sub-Megatron or, at least, Julio caliber.
Some of CC reasoning makes sense, but to me it seems our offense will change a little. If not Sully being gone then at least a switch away from the lack of a threat to the middle of the field. If they're genuine in self scouting they'll see that Glennon wont fulfilled his potential without it. So Watkins if WR, or a top flight TE if ones worthy of the pick. Evans doesn't make much sense to me.

Rainey had 79 receptions in college. He was used as a receiver quite often.

Well Jones is a stud. Roddy White is a bum, though.

I would say no. Atlanta has ignored their defense for too long, I have always felt that they could never win a Super Bowl because their defense is bad. Also, now look at the Falcons, Gonzalez is most likely done after this year, Roddy White is another year older, and their defense is still below average.

not a fan of using RBs in the slot. id rather just draft a real slot receiver and be done with it

It didn't.....they thought they were one player away and got close but when they couldn't knock off the 49'ers at home last year, their window closed. They gambled and lost with a strategy that didn't include depth on their roster.
