the next DE CC has going is at 23 I believe.  and then a few more in the mid-late 20s.  we are not going to be in position to pick a DE in the first.

walts mock doesn't really have a true DE going in the first other than Clowney.  so we got to pick some position.  TE, OT, WR, CB are really the only options.

So because Charlie the idiot says Clowney is the only DE worth taking in the top 22 picks, that is now fact? C'mon man. There are several DEs that could go in the top 20. There is always 3 to 5 DEs taken top 20. This won't be the first year there isn't just because some dumbsh!t at Walterfootball said so. My bet is Tuitt and Murphy go top 20, and there is always a late riser that ends up going higher than expected.

Vincent played slot a bit last season. So slot players are not always speed demons.  I think it requires good hands and route running skills. Wright seems to fit the requirements, move him to slot WR, and draft a TE in the draft. Blocking is not Wright's strong point anyway.

nope. Those guys aren't receivers. Like dexmonkey said, if you want a slot, get a slot.

Atlanta did it, and it semi worked for them. Idk.

Did it?

It didn't.....they thought they were one player away and got close but when they couldn't knock off the 49'ers at home last year, their window closed. They gambled and lost with a strategy that didn't include depth on their roster.

That's how i see it...now they get to flounder in mediocrity which makes this Buc fan happy.

The Falcons where great because Michael Turner was great. It opened up that passing game with Gonzalez, White, and Jones and made them hard to beat. Thier defense slipped though and now they have no running game and Gonzalez is gone for good after three more games. They have a lot of work to do. They can retool and be good again, but THAT window definitely closed.

Not sure about that.  Both of their lines are trash.  That's a lot of fixing right there, an assuming Gonzo retires for real they are losing a HOF receiving threat.  They have some pieces, buta major retool is in their cards.

Basically.Their team was based mostly on Turner, Gonzalez and White (now Jones).Their window is closing. They may be able to prop it up a little while longer, but they have major re-tooling to do.

Exactly my point about the depth...they have no bellcow at RB now....OL and DL are both suspect and key older players are either on other teams (John Abraham, Brent Grimes as examples) or out of football (Michael Turner with Tony G soon to join him). They're not in a total meltdown by any stretch but it'll take considerable tinkering to get them close to where they were. They have a pretty solid nucleus of skill players but their lines, secondary and RBs need re-tooling.

now they get to flounder in mediocrity which makes this Buc fan happy.

Indeed so.

Turner is a classic quantity over quality RB. Falcons go 13-3 and Turner runs for 4.1 ypc. Yeah, he was flippin' dominant. Next year Birds are 10-6 and he runs for a slightly better 4.5 ypc. In reality in 2010 and 2012 with Turner why they were good were bottom half of the league defenses who managed to be top 5 in fewest point surrendered because were getting turnovers. When they stopped getting those breaks the defense was exposed.

Turner scored at least 10 TDs every year he was a falcon. He wasn't the type to rip off a huge run and then get a bunch of 1 yard runs to get his 4.5 ypc average. He actually got 4 yards on most of his carries. He was also a solid weapon in the passing game. Some folks don't get how much of a difference that makes in an offense and only look at stat numbers, but when the defense always has to worry about the RB it makes it much harder to defend an offense. The offense is constantly facing 2nd and 6 or 3rd and 2 and that is hard to defend. Especially when they have great weapons in the passing game. Defenses end up gambling which results in mistakes and big plays.

Rainey had 79 receptions in college. He was used as a receiver quite often.

Catching the ball out of the backfield and lining up in the slot to run routes are two different animals.
