Rainey did line up as slot though. I'm not saying we should make him our slot and not draft a slot.....that would be horrible. We need a real slot. Having two would even be nice.....but Rainey can be used in that capacity if our play calling ever decides to be creative.

I think Bucs need to just run the ball on all 3 downs no matter the down and distance....

The Anti-Java: Vincent played slot a bit last season. So slot players are not always speed demons.  I think it requires good hands and route running skills. Wright seems to fit the requirements, move him to slot WR, and draft a TE in the draft. Blocking is not Wright's strong point anyway."Maybe we should stick Donald Penn in the slot position and he will magically turn into a slot receiver, too.

Wright is a converted WR, playing TE.  Today's game, 7 receptions for 82 yards and 1 TD.Wright on the year, 38 for 51, 404 yards.  With 3 TD's. And he has only suited up for 5 games. He is only 6-3, 220.  Not exactly massive for a TE.  What exactly is it about the slot, you don't think he could handle?  Never mind, don't bother answering, I used to bust your chops for not posting anything football related.  Just condescending smart ass remarks.  Now you make the attempt to post football related comments, and I think the board was better off with the former.Have a nice day.

The Anti-Java:  "I don't quite understand what a slot receiver is."Obviously.

You don't need to burn a first on a slot WR unless you feel Evans eventually takes over VJax's role.

I agree man. Yeah, let's take a DE with a high pick. Oh wait. We've already done that with the D-line several times and we still can't generate a pass rush worth a damn. One more reason why Marky Mark Dominick and the scouting dept. need to go. Would be sick to my stomach if we let Marky Mark make our picks again next year. It pretty damn clear to me that Glennon aint the future QB. He will be a good guy to bring along and develop, and be our backup in case of injury. Hell, he can compete for the job, but at this point we need to assume he aint the guy. Nobody be game planning for this guy man. We need a game-changer at QB. Look at Kapernick yesterday. Dude made plays on his own. Guarantee the Bucs spent a lot of time game planning for him since he be a dual threat. It's funny yo. Some of you dudes keep cracking on Walter Football but he was the only one I saw that predicted the Bucs to tank it this season before they actually did. They aint perfect, but they had balls to do that man. Walter and CC are all right in my book man.

We've searched for a TE here since the Soldier didn't want to keep his toes on the line...we finally luck into one with Wright, and some of you want to move him to WR. Makes perfect sense.

He's a TE in the same way that Dallas Clark was a TE. I think some of this is nomenclature more than actual responsibility. I don't think he is much of a TE now. You could flank him out and call him a "slot", again the way IND did with Clark or NO does with Graham. It isn't about changing the way we use him but more about changing the way we think about our needs. Call it a 2TE set or a 3WR set when he is in, doesn't much matter.

There's no shame in being a Dallas Clark-esque TE. The problem is Wright is more of a Jacob Tamme caliber. Dallas Clark would be a huge upgrade.

I like their stuff, but don't agree with everything they write. They seem to have a good pipeline on the Bucs though. They called it on David, Banks, the Price beat down of Barron, Freeman's issues and the Bucs being crap this year. They don't say stupid crap like Chad Spann and Allen Bradford are going to be good NFL players unlike some posters that think their God's gift, lol. I'd love it if the Bucs drafted Evans. V-Jax is in decline and MW isn't a No.1. Evans would be perfect to replace V-Jax.
