"In Pro Football Focus' latest free agent rankings and contract projections, Godwin is ranked as the fourth-best player available this year and second-best wide receiver coming in right behind Higgans.
I'll take #5 Khalil Mack. Give him a one year deal for $20 mil. It's not an "either or" but if I had my choice for this team for 2025 that's what I'd choose. Mack isn't going to require a three year deal."In Pro Football Focus' latest free agent rankings and contract projections, Godwin is ranked as the fourth-best player available this year and second-best wide receiver coming in right behind Higgans.

How do you know what Mack wants? I get the basics, hes a defensive star and you think Godwin = a 3rd receiver roughly comprable to "x" and lesser to McMillan, but did you include that caveat ("isn't going to require a three year deal") because you have to square it with your position that the Bucs should not pay 29 (?) year old Godwin because he cant deliver on a three year contract.
Mack is 33 and had the lowest production of his career last year, I think? You mean because he was considering retiring so eh just wants $20 for one year?
Bucs should be all over ILB Greenlaw and OLB Browning as they can cover and also hit gaps lightning quick. Onwuzurkie would add another interior pass rusher that can play the run to rotate with Vea and Kancey.
Those three additions with a veteran CB to play opposite of McCllum would allow the Bucs to go BAP in the draft.

To trask's point could they make those kind of moves with the cap room they have?
Would be great if they can. I dont follow it so that is why I am asking.

Yes, they can.
Will they? That’s another question.
But can Khalil Mack drop back in coverage?!?
I am all for helping the offense succeed and if the Bucs can bring back Godwin I am all for it.
Evans
Godwin
McMillan
2025 3rd round rookie
Palmer
Jarrett
That is a solid six WR group for Coen (cross our fingers he stays) to operate with. Coupled with the depth at TE (Otton, Durham, Culp) and RB (Bucky, White, Tucker) that cements the skill positions for the offense to possibly be elite again next season.
why the third round pick on a WR? Notice how Palmer disappeared this year? only so many targets to go around
Now that would be a luxury!
i appreciate that Evans is older but given the holes on defense, our first 3 picks should be used for Edge, ILB, and CB in no particular order
Palmer is a utility deep threat/return specialist at this point which is fine. If he, Johnson or Jarrett further develop that would be a bonus. But yes bringing in another 3rd round WR draftee to develop in the wings would be nice and help with the depth too.
I don't see a point in spending all draft picks on defense. Bucs spent draft picks on Smith and Braswell and the results were mixed while Bucky, McMillan and Barton just showed more because of the better coaching on offensive staff.
I think the draft strategy will be split like it was in 2024 where the Bucs first round pick is a trench player (eg DL or OL) and then they look at skill positions like CB, WR and LB in the following rounds.
not that pewter report is Nostradamus
but their mock they just posted had OLB, ILB, CB and CB in the first 4 rounds
Just a guess. I was just picking him out as a "for instance". Proven edge rushers won't come cheap whoever it is, unless Licht has another Shaq Barrett find up his sleeve.I'll take #5 Khalil Mack. I definitely could see that, but I'll say again they can't fill all the holes with rookies if they want to compete this year. They have to try to hit on at least a couple veteran free agents. This year isn't the year for Licht to get gunshy.
