BS. He has a slow first step. He'll probably run in the 4.65 - 4.7 range at the combine. No trade ups, but I'll take a chance @ 7.

This is a lie. Slow 1st step? Complete fiction.

4.46 is Dwight Freeney speed. Clowney plays like a LDE with his awesome 3 sacks this year, and 2 of those sacks were gifts, when he was blocked into the QB, rolling to his side. It sounds like you already bought into the workout warrior hype. Looks like Tarzan plays like Jane.

Never believe any 40 time unless it's from the NFL combine. Especially when the player himself is telling what they run.  While I don't expect him to run 4.46, it'll still be real impressive if he runs anywhere under 4.65 or so.

I've seen that hit many times.  Big deal. You can see a hit like that every week in the nfl. I wouldn't pay 40 million dollars for one hit.

It sounds like you're just really naive. Every team game planned for him and he was sometimes triple teamed with the majority of the plays going away from him yet he was still a big hassle. Maybe you should watch football instead of read the stat sheet. He's going to get double teamed frequently as a rookie and has the potential to be beating doubles in his prime. That plus McCoy would open up so many possibilities for our defense

Exactly! Athletes do the 40 under favorable conditions like run on a fast surface with the wind at their back. Or lose 20 lbs. Clowney probably weighed 200 lbs. when he ran 4.46.

Unless we trade up we're definitely out of the Clowney sweepstakes.

You sound really naive thinking the Bucs actually have a shot at drafting Clowney. Ain't happening. I've watched every draft pick for the past 20 years. I don't fall for workout warriors with a ton of hype and a signature hit. How many championships does Mario Williams have? Zero. What impact did Mario Williams have against the Bucs this year? Nothing.

Exactly. I think we stay where we are and sign a DE in free agency.

I'm not impressed with the guy personally at this stage...I don't see good technique out of him and believe he's in for a rude awakening when he plays against NFL tackles. Physically he's all you want but it'll take a lot of work for him to be a "force" like Gholston (half kidding about the Gholston part). The question is: is he willing to work or does he come equipped with a diva attitude?

That UM hit he wasn't blocked. Yes he hit him hard, no it isn't that big a deal. I'm tired of hearing about all the ways teams "stopped" him this year. Anyone think every big time passer rusher wasn't chipped, doubled and game planned for?  Plus, I saw several games and nothing really special was going on most of the time. He blows hit and cold and frankly I like my linemen to be always on and not going full Sean Gilbert and Chester McClockton. Either he is not as good as people say OR he was dogging it because he felt like he already had millions in the bak because he would be an R1 pick...now imagine the dog he will be once he actually has those millions.

its not the hit that is impressive, its the first step that puts him in position for the TFL.  the hit is gravy
