I'm not impressed with the guy personally at this stage...I don't see good technique out of him and believe he's in for a rude awakening when he plays against NFL tackles. Physically he's all you want but it'll take a lot of work for him to be a "force" like Gholston (half kidding about the Gholston part). The question is: is he willing to work or does he come equipped with a diva attitude?
The reason you don't see good technique is because here you've made it obvious that you don't watch him play. His technique is the reason why he's so effective. Coaches, scouts, draft analysts rave about his technique and the tape shows it off as well.
dal - is there a current nfl DE youd compare clowney to? would you consider him a r2 or r3 talent? i dont watch a lot of film, just thought he was considered elite/once in a decade type of guy.
A bit Carlos Dunlap, long athlete but without the premier burst. People who really like him see a latter day Bruce smith.
I respect your opinion, and I am sure he has flaws, who doesn't? I still would take a shot on him, pass rushers are almost as hard to find as franchise QB's.
I'd draft Clowney....in the 2nd round.

I see you have been drinking a bit today?
Overrated and questionable. If manziel is gone, and he's there, make some team sell their soul.
but then why would a team sell their soul for overrated and questionable?
I like Clowney but I wouldn't trade up. Going to be other studs sitting there at #7.

It would be hard to trade up ahead of the #1 pick, where he will be selected.,
but then why would a team sell their soul for overrated and questionable?
Oh shortsighted one.Haven't you ever heard the expression, another man's trash...Just because I don't want him doesn't mean another team wouldn't want him.
LOL; if he's somehow still there when our pick comes up, it will take some SERIOUS discipline by our new GM to pass. Could also be a GREAT opportunity to trade down and get that #3 pick back we lost in the Revis deal...
I would hope that a trade down from #7 would garner much more than a 3rd round pick.....
Clowney is an absolute monster. It is a shame that we won't be in a position to draft him.

Depends. Going from #7 to #8 is not going to to get you a lot. But going from #7 to #32 would.

Agree on both points.
Not a fan, but for those of you that are...what if we went Clowney in the first and Donald in the 2nd....and went big in FA on O-line upgrades?
