Interesting.
Especially knowing this guy will be a G at the next level. Licht loves his small school OL but man I think Torrence was plug n play right now.
No telling if Mauch will be ready by Sept but i LOVE his upside long term.
Detrimental - think it boils down to the two different profiles of the players; with Mauch getting the edge because of his ability to get to the second level and his ability in space over Torrence; and if you go back to the way Licht drafts his interior offensive linemen - he takes tackles and coverts them to guards; Marpet, Cappa, Goedeke and now Mauch - which undoubtedly comes down to a prospects ankle flexion, nibble feet and over all athletic profile.
I don't think Mauch has to or should move inside. First of all he's not thick at all. Secondly, we're already fine inside with Leverrett, Jensen, Hainsey, Stinnie.
My comparison to Cody Mauch is David Bakhtiari.

Only negative with Mauch is his arm length. But I think his feet make up for it.
That is true that in the absence of wingspan you need to have agile feet.
To me Canales is going to emphasize more movement so I can see Mauch being a guard or tackle really in this new scheme.

That arm length is significant difference. And the main reason why Mauch won't be an OT
You just cant ignore every other metric though. Especially on a team that already has 5 players who have played meaningful snaps inside and no LT
He will start along with
Wirfs ,Hainsey, Jensen ,Mauch and Goedeke
Per Auman
With Mauch coming in as a guard, Licht says they’re pleased with Luke Goedeke as a potential starter at tackle opposite Tristan Wirfs. Said they’re not setting a depth chart yet
Licht has already stated he’s a guard for now. Which means Goedeke will play RT
Goedeke sucked at guard. Now they're just going to hand him the RT job while a good iOL is going to be on the bench. And Goedeke's arms are shorter than Mauch's!!!!! So what are we really doing here.
Godeke best game last year was at RT

That’s disappointing.
