Licht saw this and decided to stick with Bowles and lose Coen.
maybe next season you blend both names to FireLichtandBowles2025?
Kidding but i think the most you could say at this point is that Licht (and the Glazers?) lost Coen. I dont think Licht (or the Glazers) "decided" to lose Coen because their actions are exactly the opposite.
And their anger now is newsworthy
Sorta... The Bucs lost 2 weeks ago. There was a window to move on from Bowles right there and they didn't do it immediately. This left the door open.
It's naive of them to think Coen would be loyal after 1 year when another team is willing to give him what he wants.
The play was there... Fans were calling for it. They chose another route. Those are the facts.
It's a huge whiff. Everything you're saying makes logical sense but I still revert back to the mentality of where the buck stops... Pun intended
so you say move on early because in your world “Bowles is incompetent”
of course the Glazers move on if they agree
lots of signs they do not
I'm less worried by the hour. There are more fish in the sea. We have all the pieces on offense and can find someone who can integrate the previous system and can call some plays.
Slowik just came available. But there are still many options so it isn't panic mode this time around.
Move on from Bowles, who's made the playoffs 3 years in a row and won the Super Bowl as DC, for a 1 year OC who blew the playoff game?
Look at you simping for a guy who's a sub-.500 head coach with a 1-3 record in the playoffs.
Looks like we have a frontrunner for the JCHoF class of 2026!
While I think Bowles the HC has stagnated with his growth the big problem I have with him is Bowles the DC as he is just sliding backwards. I mean the 2024 Bucs defense on paper has more talent than the 2022 and 2023 defense respectively, so the way the 2024 defense played really put a dent in Bowles cred as DC.
Maybe it was an off year for Bowles along with Coach Rapone and Winfield Jr but we will see.

Huh? You must have included “on paper” for a reason. Care to try to explain that? I mean just the LBs, 2022 is White and 32 year old LVD and 2024 is 34 year old. LVD and a rotation of guys from the Wendy’s French fry station

IMO, he's a bigger problem as a HC than he is a DC.
This thread . .

the very next one . .
But the defense needs DL, Edge, ILB (x 2), CB, Nickle CB and Safety.
?

After what I saw with the 2024 season I think the way he is calling defense is worse than his time management. He is dropping at times 7 to 8 players in zone when he doesn't have Sapp and Simeon Rice in their respective primes on the line forcing pressure with 3 or 4 players going downhill. And if he is trying to mimic a Steelers fire zone defense he is neglecting the athletic talents of his CBs. Steelers would send C. Lake and R. Woodson with CB blitzes while dropping LBs into short zone coverages.

If you compare secondary depth the 2024 defense is easily better than 2022 IMO. Starters might be debatable but T. Smith is better than what L. Ryan provided while Kancey is better than what Hicks showed in his short stint up front.
Injuries derailed the Bucs secondary in 2024 which is why I made the on paper statement. Plus, the regression of Winfield Jr, JJ Russell, Britt, etc was not something anyone saw after their stellar 2023 performances. Whitehead was a stud for the Jets in 2023 and came to the Bucs heralded.
Time to move on, Coen got what he deserved - now we move on to hiring.
My thoughts are that we may hire from within this time, Grizzard & Thad Lewis have to be on that list.
Ourside: Jake Peetz, Bobby Slowik are hopefully on the list.
They better get cracking.

Agreed.
Because at this point starting from scratch doesn't make sense.

He's jumped around a lot. We should have seen this coming.
This was his shot. Hope and pray that Baker didn't come crashing back down to earth or go coach an actual legit stud NFL QB? Baker will go back to being a below average QB again next season. Coen did the right thing by not telling the Bucs he was in Jacksonville.

Baker has the same amount of Passing TDs (69) in his last 2 years that Trevor has in his entire career
Given the last 2 years, nobody is ranking Lawrence anywhere close to Baker in terms of QB tiers
Trevor is closer to Daniel Jones then he is Baker
