or go coach an actual legit stud NFL QB?
Wait, did Coen just become the Bengals head coach?

He's jumped around a lot. We should have seen this coming.
i read this as a criticism of him when he was first in consideration. I thought someone posted it here but maybe read it somewhere else.
definitely recall that his resume looked like a job jumper
Sorry if this been addressed haven’t read all 8 pages but was reading he told baker he was staying.
not a good look if true.
I get it sounds like the jags made him an offer he couldn’t refuse
but a man’s word is everything right?!

I kinda knew about it but piecing it all together... Especially going to Kentucky twice.
It's one of those hindsight things... Like no shit, just look at his record.

Saying Lawrence is better than Baker right now is nuts...
But I do expect Lawrence to progress to the mean...
He'll be better next year and better under Coen with better play calling. Jags still have some good weapons in Thomas, Kirk, Etn, etc.
But yeah wild take to say "legit stud NFL QB" based on his body of work.
This was his shot. Hope and pray that Baker didn't come crashing back down to earth or go coach an actual legit stud NFL QB? Baker will go back to being a below average QB again next season. Coen did the right thing by not telling the Bucs he was in Jacksonville.
Lol, TL is a legit stud QB now? Big fan of Daniel Jones as well, eh?

He's light-years ahead of Daniels and I think he'll be a top 20 QB next year.
But Baker has ascended him for now.
QB Tiers
Mount Rushmore
1 - Patrick Mahomes
Tier 1
(2-4) - Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Joe Borrow
Tier 2
(5-8) - Jared Goff, Baker Mayfield, Jalen Hurts, Jayden Daniels
Tier 3
(9-12) - Matthew Stafford, CJ Stroud, Dak Prescott, Brock Purdy
Tier 4
(13-16) Tua Tagovailo, Bo Nix, Jordan Love, Justin Herbert
Tier 5
(17-20) Aaron Rodgers, Geno Smith, Sam Darnold, Caleb Williams
Tier 6
(21-25) Trevor Lawrence, Derek Carr, Bryce Young, Michael Penix, Drake Maye
I mean, seriously, Trevor Lawrence? Maybe he can be moved to tier 5 here but you are grasping if you think he is anywhere near Baker after the last 2 years.

Trevor is closer to Daniel Jones then he is Baker
No.

Depends how your metrics come to this conclusion. From a recency bias standpoint I sorta agree but from a larger body of work I'd flip some around based on the talent around them, their arm talent, wins/losses, injuries, and past success.
Based on results (for example) yes Mahomes is the not-retired GOAT but THIS SEASON he was maybe the 9th or 10th best QB.
I'd have Herbert higher... I'd have Hurts lower - he's a game manager with zero anticipation on his throws.
The rest I'd be nitpicking

"LIGHTYEARS" huh? You do know that TL and Daniel Jones have nearly identical career stats, right down to QBR/PR? And TL had the better roster, HC/OC, and the weaker Division the last three years? They're basically the same QB.

They're not. Daniel Jones is holding a clip board.
Trevor Lawrence got hurt twice.
Eye ball test they aren't even close.
Lawrence has definitely underwhelmed but Daniel Jones is a career backup.
Stats are like bikinis
after I saw the whole shit in jacksonville ... I'm happy he's gone, fullstop!!

i think the debate emerged from some ass clown suggesting Lawrence was superior to Baker.
That was true before Baker came to the Bucs. Then, in 2023 Baker surpassed him but we held out determination given Baker's roller coaster career. He then becomes easily top 10 with his performance this year, while Lawrence averaged like a TD pass per game with 11.
Nobody is ranking Lawrence ahead of Baker in any QB tiers this offseason. Performance - Baker, Contract - Baker, Age - about the only thing Lawrence has on Baker 25 versus 29, Availability/Health - Baker, Heart - Baker
so my statement was that Lawrence is alot closer to Daniel Jones than he is Baker Mayfield. Which judging my QB rankings, Baker is in top 10; Lawrence is sitting around 20. Daniel Jones ranked in bottom 5 when he was starter for the Giants.
That can change certainly, but Lawrence's career trajectory has not been an envious one by any stretch.

Oh, we're allowing for context when it comes to TL. didn't know that was allowed. Wonder why TL gets to be forgiven in that manner and Baker doesn't?
Interesting set of unwritten rules we have here.
