"I do believe I’m ready to do so. I don’t think you’re ever truly fully ready, but yeah, that is a dream,” Coen said. “Does that need to happen when I’m 39 years old and having probably the most fun of my life coaching and working and being here? No, that doesn’t mean that needs to occur right now. But yeah, that is the goal. That is absolutely the goal.

“But like I said before, that goal can hold off for a while here and continue to do what we’re doing. That would be pretty special.”

“That was one of the best Sundays I’ve had in a long time, man. And I wasn’t thinking about anything else besides this,” Coen said. “So really, at the end of the day, that stuff can wait a long time if it’s the right thing. And for us to keep moving forward doing the right things, we can wait a long time on that one.”

Let's hope. I truly do not think Bowles is getting fired

If Coen is happily staying because, as he says, they can "keep moving forward" then Bowles is most likely not getting fired absent a loss against the Saints.

One can imagine that Coen would NOT stay though IF HE THOUGHT:

a)  the team was NOT going to invest in more defensive talent and

b) Bowles was incapable of running a SB defense

the only realistic shot he has of getting fired is if they lose on Sunday

but stating the obvious somehow makes you a Bowles Supporter!

and let's hope we can have Ben Johnson II here!  Coen has taken this team to the next level

really depends what job openings offer Coen the head coaching job

going to Jacksonville to die with Lawrence wouldn't be wise.  he has seem that franchise kick a super bowl wining head coach to the curb

The Jets or Giants would be big market teams but have little talent at the QB position to make that a slam dunk decision

Dallas would be interesting given the market size and talent.  Would watch out for them but let's hope Jerry goes for a more well known household name

Chicago is interesting.  Is Caleb the real deal?  they have talent.

Would think Ben Johnson would get first dibs considering he has been doing it longer but Coen will likely get offered a job.  My guess is the Saints may go after him.

If we were to lose Coen to the Saints that would be about the worst possible scenario. The Saints would immediately start a rebuild with an offense that would give them a chance to win every week. And we would take a step backwards on offense, which will lead to the demise of Bowles with a below average defense and offense. And we will have to watch Coen year in and year out pondering what could have been.

Coen would be a fool to go to the Saints.  They are in cap hell and their best players are north of 30.  In that case he's better off taking another year as OC of the Bucs.  But as Rock Riley was commenting this morning, the two most worrisome jobs are the possible Patriots opening and the Raiders opening.  Coen grew up a Patriots fan and Brady is his idol.

Brady will be calling the Bucs game, and it will be interesting to hear what his comments on Coen will be.  Rumblings are that Brady will give up the announcing career to focus on the Raiders, and that makes sense because this game is Exhibit A of how there could be a conflict of interest. The ex-QB likes to call the shots and he doesn't need the money.  So I could see how he would prefer to work in a front office as opposed to doing commentary on other people's teams.

Why would anyone take that HC job given the state of the mess there.

I doubt the Saints are on Coen's wish list.

Thats why I have mentioned the Ben Johnson model.

Coen's best chance to win a SB is right here. 3 great RBs, top 5 QB, YOUNG top o-line, Godwin coming back etc.

And as bad as every thinks the defense is is only about 3 pts a game worse than the SB winning defense SO if the FO plan all along has been to rebuild the talent on defense . . .

Patriots aren't firing their coach.

Raiders will. Saints are in cap hell.

Chicago is by far the most attractive destination.

Jets are a joke and Giants idk... Are they firing Dabol? I don't think he's a bad coach I think the organization is run by retards.

Agreed, but I have to think that he ok’ed Daniel Jones ridiculous contract. That contract was one of the main reasons they (Daboll and Schoen) decided to let Saquan walk. While I don’t think Daboll has full roster control, I’m pretty sure he was heavily involved in those (and other personnel) decisions.

@bucsbits - there are 32 NFL head coaching jobs. There will be 5 or 6 openings this year. Maybe 1 or 2 teams offer Coen their job. There’s no guarantees that an opportunity comes up again. Who knows what happens next year… defenses start figuring out the offense with a whole offseason; major injuries; etc. You have to strike when it’s hot. Franchises outlooks change from year to year. Again, I’d prefer not to just cross my fingers and hope he doesn’t take a Head Coaching job. I’d like to make it happen here, now.

I thought Johnson was long linked to the Bears job, but either way he’s getting the best gig.

That leaves some dysfunctional teams  and then some tough rebuilds (bad cap, no QB etc)

I think Coen stays here but who knows?

I agree the Patriots job might not be available.  Kraft is likely to show more patience than some other owners.

Cowboys - No thanks.  I'm sure the financials would be great, but Jerry Jones is the GM.

Bears - Maybe, it's a mess there but he Williams will be the QB of the future if they can get him some coaching.

Jaguars - Meh.

Raiders - You have to be excited if Brady is going to take an active role.

Giants - What a mess.

Jets - What a mess Part 2.

Saints - Cap hell.  They need to dump and trade whatever they can and totally tank next year. Maybe they can get UPS to be a sponsor and give them some of their drivers.  They might as well just have open tryouts.
