Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen is taking himself out of the running for the Jaguars’ head coaching job to stay in Tampa on a new contract that now will place him amongst the highest-paid coordinators in the NFL, per sources. Bucs are keeping their OC.
that quote Schefler
"BREAKING #Buccaneers OC Liam Coen is pulling a Johnson (Ben Johnson) and has declined the #Jaguars Head Coaching opportunity. Very unexpected. But Coen feels he will give himself a better chance at longevity if he waits for a more optimal situation."
This isn't surprising at all to anyone here, because we were told a long time that "Coen doesnt really have the background to be a HC yet" by a very astute follower of the NFL. I don't even know why these teams wanted to interview the guy, since he didn't have the background and all.

Biggs, in your rush to TROLL, you are OF COURSE missing something and as ALWAYS look like the biggest clown in town.
Why would anyone take that HC job given the state of the mess there.
I doubt the Saints are on Coen's wish list.
Thats why I have mentioned the Ben Johnson model.
Coen's best chance to win a SB is right here. 3 great RBs, top 5 QB, YOUNG top o-line, Godwin coming back etc.
And as bad as every thinks the defense is is only about 3 pts a game worse than the SB winning defense SO if the FO plan all along has been to rebuild the talent on defense .
You should return your diploma to the Keystone Cops School of Trolling
because you suck at it.
wonder if Rodgers is interviewing because hes angry over Coen's big $ contract? Hope not
Let’s fucking go!!!!
pulling a Ben Johnson from last year.
shocked but thrilled
Run it back baby!
Great for the Bucs and good for him too. He has a chance to put a deep playoff run onto his resume and possibly be the HC of the Bucs in the near future instead of taking over a rebuilding project with a questionable GM to work with. You could get yourself into a bad situation. He's better off waiting, and he recognized that.
Stroud confirming
"Confirming that Liam Coen has taken himself out of the running for the Jaguars HC job to remain in Tampa Bay and will receive a new contract that will make him among the highest paid offensive coordinators in the NFL."
Like I’ve said all year, he wasn’t going anywhere.
Licht has achieved rock star status, again.
Coen gets cemented, maintains access to Tom Moore (and BA), and gets on the HC track right here in Tampa.
Bowels gets to rebuild the defense, maybe influence/hire/groom a future DC, and maybe gets a promotion next season - who knows.
Although I became frustrated with Bowles, he never lost his locker room. We’ll get to see if he can add some FA & draft a BUNCH of defensive spots, and get us to another level with a decent defense to go with a KILLER offense.
Continuity & culture seem to be primary importance to the owners & FO.
Looking great so far - will be interesting to see the restructures coming to free up that cap space. Now we can all start the draft models…but the positions of need are well defined.
LETS GO!
