These arguments make no sense. We are missing our starters on the line so we just run vanilla dive plays over and over and predictably run on first down?
So it's both an issue that Grizz has to deal with but he's also NOT DEALING WITH IT.
definitely not my point and wasn't talking about the "9 dives from the line." lol
I was saying, as one example, you dont see us run counter - a central part of the Coen offense (the #1 play in the pony package) - very much at all and some of that has to be thing like Godeke can obviously pull, but Heck? Wirfs was a central player in the Pony packages stuff and he was out. Cant really pull T and G from the right when its a different G every game
Gizzard is formationing loaded boxes and we don’t have the horses to block it without Mauch, Goedeke and Kieft.
JC appears right after the Saints game . . flash backs of Tucker?
I just dont know. I get it, our right side of Oline is destroyed...but he needs to find a way to get us in a rhythm. I think more quick passes giving our players a chance to run with it would be a good place to start. Coen did a great job of surgical play calling that allowed our playmakers to make plays. So far we seem to go for more "big plays" at the expense of creating offensive game flow. Just my 2c.
One issue is that when Grizz designs a good run you've got White getting 7 instead of Bucky who can break it.
Let's see if Grizz can get it back on track with a healthier team. I'm cynical now but I'm optimistic for the second half

I like the optimism!!
I took a bit of a dive back into PR's analysis of Coen's run game (mostly done by Josh Q) and there's no doubt Coen is almost a unique caller of the run game because he was making SUBTLE in game changes in the blocking scheme. Like showing a defense Wirfs pulling each time in a certain formation onyl to run the same paly late in the game with Wirfs stepping to the upll but then turning back to hammer someone else with the RB reversing behind him. Coen must drive run defenses nuts.
BUT, even if Grizz is not that sophisticated, it seems pretty obvious that we have so far only run a fraction of the run plays and, as you say, Irving adds another dimension.
Imagine after the bye the offense breaks out its fill run game with Irving (maybe Goedeke). The offense could be scary again!
I've read the Bucky and Goedeke have a small chance of being done for the season too so these injuries are not some slam dunk to play...
Hopefully I'm wrong and that's all noise

Read that too. That would be pretty damn terrible.
