Muvh better line play, but part of today's offense featured something that Grizz wanted to change from Coen

Egbuka "won in the intermediate-to-deep part of the field with receptions of 24, 20, 19 and 57 yards. His ability to help the offense get chunk yardage helped ensure that drives were consistently getting into Seattle territory and setting up scores. Mayfield’s average completion to all other options was just 9.8 yards. His average target of Egbuka went for 23.3 yards."

The Seahawks defense is legit or at least has been.  They were only allowing. 20 ppg and creating turnovers in the reg

we lit them up with a back up RB, half a line and down two incredible receivers.

kudos to grizz

Grizzard has been sneaky good as an OC and that is with injuries along the OL and at WR.

I think the Jags play the Seahawks next week AT HOME.

Does Coen's offense put up more than 38 on the Hawks?

PLACE YOUR MARKER.

I say "no," even at home.

Yes. Some luck may have to be involved, but after what I saw tonight?

Yes.

@white-tiger after last night’s upset of the Chiefs on Monday Night Football, I think we’ll see a tired less motivated Jags next week. And a Seahawks team that needs to right their ship. I’d take the Seahawks. Different outcome on a different week.

That is a viable position, but the same thing could be said of the Bucs. Especially if San Francisco can bracket Egbuka with double coverage. If that happens, what other Buc WR can step into the WR2 position that would scare our opponent? CG is clearly sore, and not quite to 60% yet. Shepherd? Maybe, but he’s erratic and hasn’t consistently proven to be effective for long stretches. Tez Johnson? He seems to be coming along nicely, but my gut tells me “not yet”. Otten? If any of our receiving options can, it would Cade… but he’s still an integral part of aiding the o-line.

It’s going to be tough, for both teams. El Serpiente has been lights out in play calling, and while he’s showing signs of possible improvement, Trevor Lawrence didn’t look especially special. If it requires a QB battle, not sure Lawrence is the guy that can meet the challenge - guess we’ll see. The Bucs got some nice pressure on Darnold, but no sacks, likewise, the Jag defense didn’t get a single sack on Mahomes.

Because of Mayfield, we still have a chance against the 9-ers. I don’t know if Lawrence can match Darnolds output. However, Seattle took a couple of hits in their secondary, already missing streaky Riq Woolen, now with Pritchet & Emmanwori possibly being limited does that open things up for Lawrence? It could.

Lawrence was the leading rusher for the Jags, showed an ability to rally for that last drive against KC, and coupling that with a slightly banged-up secondary, evens it out a bit for El Serpiente’s Jag’s. I’d say it’s about even.

We’ll see, but I wouldn’t bet against Coen. It’s still early, but he does have some confidence established, and certainly has some momentum now.

Zero intention to knock Coen, but this ^^ and the massive turnover differential, including a 99 yd pick 6 last night, are reasons to wonder if SOME of the Jags success so far is smoke and mirrors?

If you take out the defensive play (applying Red Board Bowles logic the HC gets no credit for that anyway because he's an OC)! and then watched $200 million Lawrence let the play clock run out late and then flounder on the ground before getting that late TD.  Yikes. Even the big throw that got them down there could've been a pick and then a PI call . . lots of positive breaks.

So much more in a final game score than OC play calling **, but the score against a common opponent provides some info so thats why I thought it would be interesting

**maybe Grizz has an unfair advantage because he has Mayfield, not Lawrence.

The Seahawks defense, especially after injuries in our game, is a little bit like the Bucs 2024 defense with a lot of starters injure din the backfield.  So, its possible Coen completely lights them up passing.

And yet Coen is 4-1 with a bad team, has a great run game going, defense improved, culture improved, fans showing up.

While we win on talent and late game heroics of Mayfield with a Swiss cheese defense.

yes, not trying to knock him . ..  let me keep emphasizing that .. just pointing out that, for example, they have a HUGE win yesterday but a big part of it is a 99 yard pick 6. Not exactly a common thing.

If you watched Coen's face when his QB fell got up fell got up and scored . . .he was even surprised.

To win games, sometimes the ball has to bounce your way a few times. We've been subject to the fg doink bad juju plenty.

We got the ball off the helmet which was lucky. Koo missing a tying fg then quiting the league.

Jags got some bounces. That's sports.

Chiefs have been feasting off those bounces and critical calls for years and now it's catching up.

Just part of sports. Lord knows I've seen my Ducks have a few balls not bounce their way but gotta play better so the margin of error isn't razor thin.
