Texans fans beating the drum for the team to skip a quarterback and take South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney with the first overall pick in the NFL Draft in May might have a respected voice backing up their wishes. NFL Films producer Greg Cosell went on the Midday 180 program (Manziel comments are in the last quarter of the interview) in Nashville and said he didn’t think any quarterback coming out this year would be worth a top pick in normal draft years.Cosell was particularly harsh in his criticism of Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, calling him ‘almost undraftable’ based on his film in his final two regular season games in 2013 against LSU and Missouri.“If those were the first two games you put on and watched, you'd say he was almost undraftable," Cosell said. "He was so bad in those two games, that you'd struggle to figure out, can I even draft this guy?"Manziel went 40-76 passing combined in both those games for 419 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He also rushed for 75 yards on 23 carries. Texas A&M lost both of the games to close out the regular season, then rebounded with a wild comeback win over Duke in the Chick-fil-A Bowl in which Manziel threw for 382 yards and four touchdowns.“At times, he's shown very strong flashes of structured pocket play that clearly projects to the NFL,” Cosell said. “So I think it will come down to how you balance these issues. He's much more of a see-it, throw-it quarterback than an anticipation thrower. He's not really a timing and anticipation thrower on film." http://www.csnhouston.com/football-houston-texans/talk/cosell-manziel-almost-undraftable?p=ya5nbcs&ocid=yahoo

I would be really happy if somehow Bridgewater falls through the cracks and he is on the board at 7

Finally a voice of reason on this topic.  Cosell knows what he talking about.  As a franchise, it's clear we need to steer away from a QB in this draft. There is a ton more value on the Defensive side of the ball, OLine and WR.

Cossell has yet to be right about anything..not sure why he is considered an expert.

"Manziel went 40-76 passing combined in both those games for 419 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He also rushed for 75 yards on 23 carries."Those stats look like a typical two game stretch for Glennon, minus the rushing yards of course. So if this makes Johnny undraftable, what is Glennon? The premise of this argument is ridiculous imo. The kid is absolutely amazing for two straight seasons.....but lets look at a two game stretch where he struggled and base our decision off of those two games? Yeah. That seems legit. I hope all this talk of no great franchise QBs in this draft is shared by the people who matter so a QB falls to us.....but I'm willing to bet this is all the usual nonsense and smoke & mirrors we always see this time of year. I still think all three top QBs will go in the top 5 and all three will be solid starters. Guess we'll see. In three months.

No, he is one of the better analysts, especially with QB and he picked up what the main concern with JFF is. It's not size, arm strength, accuracy or athleticism. It's the fact that he looks uncomfortable in the pocket at times and routinely fails to deliver the ball on time and rather chose to "make a play" by rolling out of the pocket. Mike Vick struggled with that and he ran a 4.2. JFF will run a 4.55 or 4.6. He needs to stand in the pocket and deliver the ball on time and he just can't do that right now.Not saying he won't be good, but like I've said for a few months now, he's much more of a project than people want to admit.

+1I don't see a QB worthy of a 1st round pick, especially 5.1 JFF - he will get physically beat up in the NFL  (See Washington Redskins)

Cosel said Justin Hunter was the best WR in the 2011 draft and compared him to Randy Moss. He also said Ryan Kerrigan was an overrated "try hard" player that didn't belong in the 1st round. Cam Newton wasn't a top 20  prospect. He also had RG3 ranked higher than Andrew Luck.....lol. Brilliant.

He has a lot of "spot on" evaluations too.  For what it's worth, RG3 was better before Shanny killed him.
