Yes he does deserve consideration but no way in Hell does he win DPOY on a 4-9 team.

Why, because an individual defender on a better team is having a better season than he is?

Just wanted to repost this because Lavonte David is the fucking man.Let me tell you guys some stats/facts that I have said a ton of times, but need to be repeated for all the (idiotic) doubters here.1. The third player in NFL HISTORY(!!) to have 100+ tackles, 6 sacks, and 5 INTs.2. There is a pretty great stat for defenders called defeats. It has been recorded since 1996 and is a combination of TFLs, turnovers or deflections/ff that caused turnovers, and tackles/pass deflections to stop a first down conversion on 3rd/4th down. So yea, this looks like a pretty damn good stat to help judge a defender's impact. Well at 43 defeats on the season, David not only leads the NFL by a mile (next closest guy has 29) he is one of only 4 players since that 1996 season to be over 40. The other 3 guys were Ray Lewis in 96', DB55 in 99', and Watt last year at 56 which is **CENSORED**ing insane and thats why it was arguably the greatest defensive season ever. Anyway, David is probably not going to catch Watt, but he is only 2 away from tying Lewis who is second all time.So guys, look at those facts and tell me someone else is even close to more deserving. Its a **CENSORED**ing joke hearing some of you dudes say Keuchly or Sherman should get it. Please. If you don't like stats, check PFF. If you don't like PFF, check football outsiders. If you fancy yourself a good judge of football talent, check the frickin film yourself. It's a FACT. Lavonte David is the Defensive Player of the Year. Sorry fellas.

I agree man.  How do people not see this? There is a bunch of ignorance that comes with all this voting stuff, just a bunch of X factor fanboy voting garbage.  Im not super big on stats, but this list cant be ignored, and I think a certain criteria should be met before you could be considered for these type of awards (such as stats).  You don't meet certain stats, you don't get in!  Maybe LD needs to become a loudmouth punk getting in trouble all the time, then that would get everyone's attention, then maybe he can get some votes?

He's gonna be sharing the field with Willis and Bowman this Sunday. If he can be the best LB in Ray Jay on Sunday, then I don't see how anyone can deny him the DPOY.

Methinks you should look up the differences between "fact" and "opinion".

Not bad for a second round pick who played JC ball for 2 years.

They need to play up to his level.

Sure wish McCoy hadn't been offsides on that play. David woulda had his 6th Interception and it was a sick interceptions too. He still managed to have 9 solo tackles and a forced fumble though. Was looking at the updated TFL stats. David is 2nd in the league with 17. McCoy is 5th with 15. Clayborn is 7th with 13. It's too bad we don't have another stud DE.

Yes he does deserve consideration but no way in Hell does he win DPOY on a 4-9 team.

Why, because an individual defender on a better team is having a better season than he is?

I think there are a lot of folks in the league that would say David is not even the best individual defender on his own team.

David is a damn good LB and we are lucky to have him.Although, I would like to see what he does with a legit coach and system. He could possibly be even better.

That's a great thing to say and I believe McCoy is best defensive player on our team but David's numbers this year are tops across the board so I would say he's having the better year as an individual defender.

Kap probably doesn't throw that ball without the offsides call.  He knew he had a free play and threw it up giving his receiver a chance. That was one helluva play David made on the ball, though.

Maybe Biggs, but throwing to Vernon Davis when he is covered one on one by a linebacker is something Kap does a lot of.
