Looks like people forget our Bucs in 2002 even existed."We're the best defense since the '85 Bears," defensive end Michael Bennett said after the game, via CBS Sports' Will Brinson. That's the type of company the Seahawks' defense is keeping now. We will talk about these Seahawks like we do the 1970s Pittsburgh Steelers and the 2000 Baltimore Ravens. By beating a historic offense, the Seahawks wrote a legacy of their own.
I dont think we were all that memorable to anyone outside of the TB and OAK fan bases. We def put a beat down on the Raiders, but when you pummel Rich Gannon it just doesnt carry the same weight as humiliating a Peyton Manning. That being said, it doesnt take any shine off our trophy.

The Hawk's had the best defense in history in the Super Bowl and that's all people want to see or hear right now. The Buc's had the best pass defense in NFL history in 2002 and arguably one of the best over all defenses ever. The Hawk's need to do more then what they did this year to top the 2002 Buc's.

Gannon was the league MVP just like Peyton. The Bucs picked off Raiders quarterback and 2002 NFL MVP Rich Gannon five times, returning three of those INTs for touchdowns! I personally don't see how the Hawk's D could top that but that's just me.

This site used some sort of metric and decided the 2013 Seahawks had the #4 pass defense of all time, with the Bucs being #1. So while they're not quite as good as the Bucs, they're more than good enough to be up there with the best ever. http://www.footballperspective.com/putting-the-2013-seahawks-pass-defense-in-perspective/
Seattle has definitely earned entry into the conversation of best ever. I still say there's never been a more dominant pass defense than ours in 02 and the numbers back it up. We had an incredible team and the sheer amount of turnovers our D forced, all they points they put up themselves and the fact that our D scored as many points in the SB as Oaklands #1 O did was just mind boggling.Still, what Seattle did to Manning and that historic O was stunning. Great performance.

I get that...but there is a big difference when a Manning/Brady gets embarrassed in the super bowl vs a Gannon.

The league MVP & #1 offense is the league MVP & #1 offense. Change all the names you want but it makes no difference. Getting your @$$ handed to you in the big game is embarrassing anyway you slice or dice it. There is no larger or bigger variant based on your name.
Pressure killsManning with no pressure rating 99Manning with pressure 33He was pressured 147% more than normal last night.
That is such a silly argument though... That is what really gets me. Maybe I was wrong on that play (I was ha.. I just re-watched it) but his mobility didn't win that game for Seattle. He could have stood in the pocket like a stone and not thrown interceptions (something Glennon is good at) and SEA would have won...
Glennon threw about 1 pick per game.

As Brooks recently explained, the Buc D's claim to greatness really relates to almost a decade of work, not one game. The discussions now are obviously and appropriately about one game

It is embarrassing, not arguing that fact. But there most certainly is a difference in people's minds when certain names are involved. If you dont believe that you are fooling yourself.

That's all i've been hearing this a.m. No one has mentioned that the Bears beat up on a craptastic Tony Eason or the Ravens dominated Kerry Collins. What the Seahawks did to a league MVP was incredible as was what we did to Rich Gannon. Edit: Bruschi just gave us a mention.

Who cares! we know how great our defense was. Could give a shit what the rest of the country thinks about it.

Doesn't tell the whole story. They went for 4th downs and skipped field goals since they were down and wanted to try to get back in it. It was all or nothing for them.
