They get credit for drafting All Pros in G-Mac and LVD and for Kwon, who from what we've seen thus far, appears poised for stardom. Unlike the OL, which was just neglected for years, the Bucs have at least tried to draft defensive talent. There were a few players who have flashed over the seasons (Banks, Gholston, Clayborn, Barron) and some absolute busts (Price, Bowers, Lewis). Overall though, these picks have been mainly mediocre. I'll say this though; what has the problem really been? Is it just that these players suck? Is it the fact that we've employed three different defensive systems in last five years and the new staffs have cycled their guys in and out? Like it or not, this is why I think Lovie gets more time. I think the Glazers see what the instability has created and they will give Lovie another season or two to fix the defense. Not a popular opinion but I think they are paying attention to the turnaround on offense and looking at guys like Marvin Lewis and Ron Rivera, who had better records at this point but have weathered some storms and built winners. Regardless of what happens, we simply have to do a better job at drafting defense and it HAS to start with this draft. Our pass rush and secondary are the only things holding us back from being a perennial playoff contender.
