He wasn't brought up to play special teams, so why bother unless you are going to throw to him? He's a wiley veteran and Denver will be concentrating on finding ways to stop Evans and Godwin. Baker will be looking to get the ball to Shepard, and he'll get three or four catches and a TD.
He likely won't even have one target baring injury or blow out
You think he’s taking the 3rd receiver spot?
seems unlikely.
McMillan hasn't been targeted a lot so far, nor has Palmer. They've been looking to hit McMillan with a couple long balls but not much else. He's going to be a good one, but they don't seem to be utilizing him much so far. I think Shepard will be used as a safety valve possession type of receiver, and my gut feeling is that Mayfield is looking forward to this and he may have put a bug in somebody's ear to get him elevated to the roster. I don't think he'll bump McMillan down the pecking order or anything like that, but he'll still see the field enough and when he does Mayfield's going to look for him. That's my prediction - 3 to 4 catches and a TD. .You think he’s taking the 3rd receiver spot?

If he was a dangerous a threat as you believe he wouldn’t of been hiding in the practice squad.
If he was a dangerous a threat as you believe he wouldn’t of been hiding in the practice squad.
Exactly.
I don't believe I said he was a "dangerous threat". In fact I called him a wiley veteran safety valve. McMillan, Palmer, and Johnson are dangerous threats, and yet they have a total of 7 targets combined. McMillan 5, Palmer 2, Johnson 0. Perhaps Mayfield needs something more coming from the recievers behind Godwin and Evans? If he was a dangerous a threat as you believe he wouldn’t of been hiding in the practice squad.
Exactly.
Again, why activate Shepard if you aren't going to use him and he doesn't play special teams? It isn't to stand on the sideline and wave a towel. I could be totally wrong. We'll see soon enough.
McMillan will come around. Godwin has been hot from the slot again, and Evans got to eat. No stat line for Shepard today.
as for Godwin, it's great that he's being so productive right now, but we need him to be 100% at the end of the year. We can't work him like a dog now and expect him to be full strength later. Mayfield will take what the defenses give him, and the defense is going to have to pay more attention to Godwin this week. If he goes off again this week I won't complain, but at some point they have to find some more production from guys other than Evans and Godwin.McMillan will come around. Godwin has been hot from the slot again, and Evans got to eat. No stat line for Shepard today.
I had ho clue what the Bucs were planning, and after watching the game I still have no clue what they were planning.
You really gotta give the Broncos credit for shutting down Shepard today. They heeded the OP’s advice and accounted for Shepard very well.
One target each for McMillan and Palmer. Nine targets to TEs. Why did they activate Shepard? Who knows. For some reason Mayfield is not looking for other WRs, or the plays aren't being called for them. But I'm putting it on Mayfield. He doesn't seem to have confidence in his other receivers. You really gotta give the Broncos credit for shutting down Shepard today. They heeded the OP’s advice and accounted for Shepard very well.
Why did they activate Shepard? Who knows.
You think it may have been because there are four starters that were inactive because of injury, and not because Shepard was some super-secret weapon?
Probably not. Sean Payton and Vance Joseph sniffed it out. Rats…
If I was Evans I would be in front of Bowles Coen and Baker screaming "Throw me the damn ball!
