Gerald McCoy sacks RGIIIThe recent demotion of Robert Griffin III by the Washington Redskins and release of Trent Richardson by the Oakland Raiders put the football futures of two of the top three selections in the 2012 NFL Draft in doubt.Given those two key recent developments -- plus, a number of others in the class of 2012 -- here's how the 2012 NFL Draft would play out if we had a chance to do it all over again:2012 NFL Draft -- Round 11. Indianapolis Colts Pick: Andrew Luck Do-over: Same Comment: The Colts go from Peyton Manning to a horrible season and then onto the Andrew Luck era. Some teams have all the "Luck". It's early in the article -- it might get substantially worse.2. Washington Redskins Pick: Robert Griffin III Do-over: Russell Wilson Comment: Remember that Mike Shanahan is making this pick in 2012 and Griffin is ready-made for his zone-scheme, bootleg-action offense.3. Cleveland Browns Pick: Trent Richardson Do-over: Ryan Tannehill Comment: While some might go with Luke Kuechly here, the Browns had no answer at QB headed into this draft and Tannehill is flashing enough to take a chance on such an important position for success.4. Minnesota Vikings Pick: Matt Kalil Do-over: Luke Kuechly Comment: While Kalil has had his moments, Kuechly is a dominant defensive force who is versatile enough to battle against quality offenses within the division in 2012.5. Jacksonville Jaguars Pick: Justin Blackmon Do-over: Alshon Jeffery Comment: The Jaguars were hoping to find a big target for QB Blaine Gabbert and Jeffery has proven to be reliable and effective. Furthermore, he's proven that his conditioning and speed are not concerns at this level.6. Dallas Cowboys Pick: Morris Claiborne Do-over: Dontari Poe Comment: Poe was a freak with all of his pre-draft testing and he's flashed that incredible potential enough to warrant a selection here by the Cowboys, who needed defensive line help at the time.7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Pick: Mark Barron Do-over: Alfred Morris Comment: Tampa was looking for a running back in 2012 and that's what we'll give them in the re-draft. Morris has size and the ability to be a workhorse, which is what the team was looking for.8. Miami Dolphins Pick: Ryan Tannehill Do-over: Nick Foles Comment: If you think this is too early, then consider that many thought the Dolphins took Tannehill too early in the original 2012 draft. Using hindsight, Foles has shown enough to potentially reach for a QB here.9. Carolina Panthers Pick: Luke Kuechly Do-over: Bobby Wagner Comment: The Panthers miss out on all-everything Kuechly in the redraft, but they land another mega athlete who can run and chase all over the field.10. Buffalo Bills Pick: Stephon Gilmore Do-over: T.Y. Hilton Comment: The Bills took an undersized WR in the third round (T.J. Graham) of the 2012 draft and missed. This time, they hit with a dynamic talent who has big-play potential.11. Kansas City Chiefs Pick: Dontari Poe Do-over: Chandler Jones Comment: Jones would fit the Chiefs' 3-4 defense under Romeo Crennel in 2012. He has the ability to get up the field and rush the passer to dominate a game.12. Philadelphia Eagles Pick: Fletcher Cox Do-over: Lavonte David Comment: David has been an absolute tackling machine since coming into the league and fits nicely into the Eagles' hole at weakside linebacker in 2012.13. Arizona Cardinals Pick: Michael Floyd Do-over: Matt Kalil Comment: The Cardinals' issues along the offensive line needed to be addressed. In 2012, the Cardinals took Bobby Massie in the fourth round, but they take Kalil in this spot in the redraft.14. St. Louis Rams Pick: Michael Brockers Do-over: Michael Floyd Comment: While Brockers has been a rock for the Rams, Floyd would have given them something they coveted -- a receiver with size and ball skills.15. Seattle Seahawks Pick: Bruce Irvin Do-over: Olivier Vernon Comment: The Seahawks planned to add edge speed, so we'll do the same thing here, but with Vernon instead of Irvin.16. New York Jets Pick: Quinton Coples Do-over: Fletcher Cox Comment: Cox hasn't been the disruptive pass rusher that some projected when he came into the league, but Rex Ryan would have loved his traits in this spot.17. Cincinnati Bengals Pick: Dre Kirkpatrick Do-over: Kelechi Osemele Comment: Osemele gives the Bengals a tackle/guard with a big frame and long arms who can play with power and movement.18. San Diego Chargers Pick: Melvin Ingram Do-over: Bruce Irvin Comment: Ingram's injuries have robbed him of a chance to show his ability over the last two seasons. In a redraft, Irvin's blazing speed off the edge gets the nod.19. Chicago Bears Pick: Shea McClellin Do-over: Cordy Glenn Comment: Glenn has proven he can handle the rigors of being an NFL left tackle, and the Bears were gambling with J'Marcus Webb as the starter at that time.20. Tennessee Titans Pick: Kendall Wright Do-over: Vontaze Burfict Comment: Wright has been just fine for the Titans and maybe this is like taking points off the board, but Burfict has proven to be a first-round worthy talent by staying out of trouble and getting into shape. 21. New England Patriots Pick: Chandler Jones Do-over: Michael Brockers Comment: Brockers isn't the same type of lineman that Jones is, but he can fit into the Patriots' hybrid front as a run stuffer.22. Cleveland Browns Pick: Brandon Weeden Do-over: David DeCastro Comment: DeCastro has been good enough for the Browns to lock him into a spot late in the first round.23. Detroit Lions Pick: Riley Reiff Do-over: Same Comment: There are others I could plug in here, but Reiff has handled his business for the most part, so we'll leave him here.24. Pittsburgh Steelers Pick: David DeCastro Do-over: Dont'a Hightower Comment: Though not spectacular, he has been steady and would likely prove to be an upgrade over DeCastro.25. New England Patriots Pick: Dont'a Hightower Do-over: Stephon Gilmore Comment: A cornerback with size, speed and a willingness to tackle is always on Bill Belichick's radar.26. Houston Texans Pick: Whitney Mercilus Do-over: Akiem Hicks Comment: While Mercilus has shown some life of late, Hicks can be absolutely dominant at times and would have given the Texans an anchor in the middle of the defensive line.27. Cincinnati Bengals Pick: Kevin Zeitler Do-over: Janoris Jenkins Comment: I gave the Bengals a guard earlier in this redraft (Osemele), so we'll reverse it and go with a playmaking corner with this pick.28. Green Bay Packers Pick: Nick Perry Do-over: Derek Wolfe Comment: Wolfe has shown some potential to be the Packers' type of pass rusher since they've gone with more movement and less bulk up front.29. Minnesota Vikings Pick: Harrison Smith Do-over: Same Comment: We'll stay with Smith here.30. San Francisco 49ers Pick: A.J. Jenkins Do-over: Rueben Randle Comment: Randle might not be perfect, but he's shown steady improvement in each of his three seasons in the league. The 49ers needed to find a steady target with some ability down the field.31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Pick: Doug Martin Do-over: Robert Griffin III Comment: Back in 2012, the Bucs just finished a turnover-filled season with Josh Freeman at the helm and there were internal concerns that he wasn't "the guy." While Griffin has clearly had issues, he's flashed enough that Tampa might be willing to reach on him here thanks to his potential.32. New York Giants Pick: David Wilson Do-over: Lamar Miller Comment: Miller is the slasher than Wilson was never allowed to become.
