I would make him play his 5th year…
The $11M vacuum he leaves and the lack of ability at this stage to replace/improve what he would leave isn’t worth it.
Additionally, the team has all the leverage. I would make him play. See if he grows up and is a team player.
if not- you know he isn’t worth it. Whether or not his play elevated this year you now at the end of the season what we have. A Captain and someone you’re trying to build your team around doesn’t do this. Especially when your HC has always gone to bat for him and never threw him under the bus despite many justified opportunities he should’ve to make an example.
his contract demand will be a problem to receive more than middle/late 3rd round value!
He probably asked for 20m this off-season and we responded well you scored a 50 on pff for 4 years and felt disrespected. But tbh he should know he’s not worth 20m
I don't think people realize how freaking bad White was... every now and then he played well but most of the time he was flat out a liability.
It isn't just coverage.
He cannot get off a block to save his life... he really isn't that great in the run game. Dare I say he sucked.
While PFF isn't exactly a perfect science, it consistently had him bottom 10% of the entire league.
He should get a contract like Devin Bush.
1 year prove it deal with incentive.
He wants a mega deal... I just pray we can trade him to Philly for some of their great draft capital
Bucs FO says they don't intend to trade him. But my gut says if things become bad they will trade him.
Well they have to trade him before the draft or there's no point. If they don't get a first round pick in this draft or something similar, they might as well hang onto him another year, tag him and trade him then. As I've said before, it's time to make a decision on White. Either pay him or trade him. One more year isn't going to change your opinion. His price isn't going down in a year. Next year you'll have to use the franchise tag on him, so hopefully you can get Winfield signed because you might have to tag him. If you try to wait it out for a year, it will only exacerbate the problem.Bucs FO says they don't intend to trade him. But my gut says if things become bad they will trade him.
Trade him now, or pay him. Other teams know this as well, so we'll have to wait until draft day when we will have the maximum leverage. Then teams know that if they don't get it done then, it's not going to happen.
If a player doesn't want to play for the (only) team that I root for... buh-bye.
And this is simply outrageous:
“GOD ISN’T ASKING YOU TO FIGURE IT OUT. HE’S ASKING YOU TO TRUST THAT HE ALREADY HAS.”
That's likely the dumbest thing that I've ever read.
I hope that he gets his wish, and that he never wears a Bucs jersey again.
✌️✌️
Trade White to the Steelers for pick #49 and #120
I hope he keeps making this situation even more messy so we can for sure move him before the draft. There was some good mojo going on w/ this team with all the solid signings the FO made and no more of the Brady shenanigans... all for it to sour thanks to the biggest diva on the team.
I also don't buy the "Bucs have no intention of trading him". Thats the perfect thing to say, you want teams calling you not the other way around. You keep that tune until a few days before draft day.
It's time to cut bait, he was worth the high pick because he undoubtedly helped us win a SB. But now the dude is complacent after getting his ring & all he cares about now is top end $$ he does not deserve. It's obvious becoming the best LB he could be is not a priority. He falls back on his insane talent instead of working to correct the glaring flaws in his game.
He just wants to play his 1 trick pony style and if he sucks in every other area so be it in his mind...he thinks because he's blazing fast he's an elite LB lol. He's a dog & a super rare athlete but he doesn't work on his craft like a Fred Warner or LVD, he will NEVER be on their level...so paying him elite $$ is comical. Get whatever picks you can Jason, this is a huge blessing IMO. Losing Devin White is not the end of the world. Losing JPP to age and injuries was way worse, the drop off in Suh's game & having to move on from him was way worse also than losing White. Losing White is literally losing Kwon on steroids...it stings but its not going to sink the team by any means.
If he wasn't being such a punk and handled this like a pro I think this team would have eventually gave him close to his asking price. But since he wants to bitch online & to the media I'm sure the number of supporters he had at One Buc are dwindling by the hour. F*** Devin White, I pity the team that gives him a 100M.
White being a "playmaker" is overrated. MLB's "make plays" by default because they're in the middle of the field close to the ball. When White missed the Washington playoff game his backup, Minter, made the biggest defensive play of the game. White gets credit for picking up a fumble vs Green Bay but the reality of the play was it was 3rd and 5 and White was manned up on Jones. Jones got 7 yards of separation and Whitehead saved his ass. Ball bounces right to White and he's a playmaker? Fuck this guy.
Licht is in a bad position right now because this will be his second top 5 pick that didn't get a second contract. He's trying to salvage this but you cannot pretend it's not an issue anymore.
If his trade value is a 4th a best, we should just keep him and if he acts a fool, deactivate his ass
let him torpedo his career
I'm thinking there's a GM or DC out there that would love to get their hands on his athleticism and think they can fix him. Someone would give at least a 3rd rounder, maybe even a 2nd rounder due to his potential and age.
