Anyone that knows football saw Devin White dominate this past Sunday. He played with emotion; finished off tackles; displayed his speed and pursuit. He was what Devin should always be.
Why doesn’t he do this week in and week out? Why would a guy with his potential not put it on the field every Sunday? I just don’t get it.
Contract years do the damndest things, don’t they?
That type of character worries me with a long term contract. Next year, is he going to go back to giving us a few solid games a year?
Yeah, so his problem is discipline. I wish him luck.

well to be fair, it's been one game...maybe this is one of the few.
Hopefully not

Likewise.
Hope he has his best year yet.
And, that some other team signs him in the offseason.
Its why winning it all (Super Bowl, World Series etc) takes so many things coming together all at the same time and most of those things disappear as soon as the trophy is lifted.
Bowles actually talked about it in the "handcuffed" article and Godwin talked about it as well, both saying the same thing, essentially, which is that talent is NOT enough because talented players are not as dediated omce they have won it all. They dont do the little things and the hard things. You have to practice and train like most guys (especially older veterans) would not having already one A (singular) Super Bowl.
You see that on the field when a GREAT run stopping defense cant stop the run anymore because less desire and discipline.
Its the same thing with contracts and the NFL teams make it worse themselves because White can loaf last year and then play lights out this year and STILL GET PAID BY SOME TEAM
It's a business more than a sport. Its why Evans came out and made a point that retiring a Bucs is a great goal BUT NOT THE DECIDING MOTIVATION.
$$$$$
He was big Sunday. as well as our Super Bowl run.
his actions this off season cost him his captaincy.
I’m torn about wanting him back.
depends on the price i guess.
I dont think we should sign him to a big deal either, but he's gong to get a big deal if he keeps playing like that.
He was a BEAST
He played very well... no two ways around it. If he had played like this the last 2 seasons, maybe the outcome would be different and he'd be making more.
But as it stands he's in a contract year and we all know those cannot be trusted.
And it's also worth noting that his tackles are all still coming in way way way too high. He made those tackles but if he tries to tackle Bijan that high he's gonna get bucked easily
He played very well... no two ways around it.
truth
just don’t expect many here to acknowledge that because most are all or nothing, good or bad … no in between.
Lots of FAIR criticism of the guy but some of it is over the top like advocating for just cutting him or fire sale trade him
White has even been used as a criticism of Bowles because Bowles likes him.
He played very well... no two ways around it.
Nobody’s debating whether he played well or not.
Hell, even the Twitterverse is in collective agreement that he balled out.
It’s just that we’ve seen this before (albeit, not often), and while the usual leg-humpers have worked themselves into heat over it; I’m simply not convinced.
And, we have limited cap while needing to dish out some big deals next season.
Wirfs, Evans, AWJ are FAR more deserving than White. All better players who’ve shown far more consistency and who haven’t pout and demanded trades when they didn’t get what they want.
Let him get the bag somewhere else.
the usual leg-humpers have worked themselves into heat over it
Actually agree with the point in the post but had to quote this classic Buggsy style
I don't think you get better MLB play than what you saw out of DW last sunday unless your kuechly, he tackled players in their tracks played sideline to sideline and was in position for coverage, he definitely had a better game than LVD. if he gets 5 years 100m i wouldnt be mad, if he played like this all season. If he can play like this(at an all pro MLB level) it means he understands the game, and it wasn't some fluke season where he had 15 sacks. Thing is can he?
