Who would you trade for him? I would prefer a proven player and a 2nd round draft pick. I am not sure he is all that. He is fast but seems to run out of position
Very unlikely
I'm guessing we'd get at best a 3rd...
Which is also what we can get if we just let him walk next year
Which is also what we can get if we just let him walk next year
Except the comp pick wouldn't get to us until 2025. I want that pick now.
I'd definitely shop White around on draft day. A second and a fourth would be blissful
I know we aren't in a position to trade into the top 5-10 to draft one of the 3 qb's projected but if I had to choose players in a trade package for a move, he'd be first.
I'd definitely shop White around on draft day.
I'm hoping they'd trade him before free agency, because that's when we need to be under cap by, and unloading him would save us 11 million.
Good point on the salary... jfc, 11m for a rookie LB.
Such a bad draft pick. Thanks God he played well during the super bowl run at least... I guess that makes it worth it
Do not trade him. He has showing greatness. Did he have a great season no! He could be hurt.
White had a hot start to his career and then has fizzled out which is sad. But the reality is that a third or fourth round pick would be fair value and the Bucs can draft his replacement IMO.
White had a hot start to his career
This is the biggest myth amongst casual fans.
He was a liability from the minute we drafted him.
There were a number of us on here who HATED the pick. And, for good reasons.
He was (and is) still awful in nearly every facet of his game.
I wanted Josh Allen at the time, and I still would take him over White... but he hasn't been great either.
Bottom line, and what was said AT THE TIME.
The only way you justify taking a LB (or RB or TE) that early is if they are elite all-pro very quickly.
Period. It's bad value.
An average lineman is better than a good LB. The LB has to be elite with a top 10 selection.
White was a RB recruit converted to LB. I KNEW he would struggle at the NFL level because he got by with just his athleticism in college.
But Licht just fucking LOVES his LSU LBs so... expect another one soon.
Josh Allen and Shaq Barrett would've been a fantastic pass rush duo to have. Taking a LB top 5 is a questionable pick at best but taking White specifically was just disappointment waiting to happen. We drafted a LB who showed zero coverage skills and pass rush ability. We drafted an athlete and thought we could coach him up to be this elite LB. He is not, and far from.
White aspires to be Luke Kuechly like but he's his instincts are awful. the Bucs should NOT bring him back for a big contract
Hard to say what Allen would have been in another situation... Jags were awful.
But it couldn't be worse than White. I'm thankful for that 8 game stretch where he played up to his potential and we won it all... truly.
But like Donovan Smith who also played great during that stretch, they regressed to the mean.
Licht has taken so many fucking luxury picks in bad spots, it blows my mind.
I'm also thankful for Licht drafting well and signing in FA for about 2.5 season... but he too has regressed to the mean.
