Did Lovie and company actually UNtrain Winston?

I sure read a lot of stories this past off season talking about how Lovie was going to coach-up Winston.  I'm starting to wonder what would have happened if instead.....he just would have let Winston be Winston......as he seems very overloaded and at times, damn confused.why do you take a guy for the talent he has.....and then spend the next few months un-training him..and his instincts...and methods..which were originally the things you chose him for?  did they try to shove TOO MUCH onto his plate?and more important......did they train him to fit into a system.......or did lovie build a system around him?
