Seriously tho what a fucking goofball. Cringe 😬
SR reported that the Bucs had some concerns about his maturity and volatility. Who knows? Maybe he is not a good HC candidate
I truly believe this, if the Bucs would have fired Bowles and the Jags fired that GM at the same time . Coen would have stayed in Tampa . He clearly stated in an interview before the playoffs that he was interested in a head coaching job. I just think Coen did not want to work under Bowles simply because Bowles is the HC and you have to carry Todd. I think Coen generated a lot of respect in his one year in the NFL. Why take a chance of failing under Bowles . Go get the money now . I would want to fail under my ruling . Not Bowles .

Well I also have a salty bias. He could be great for all we know but...
Young, inexperienced, job hoping coach in Jax?
My money is on a flop

There's a simple reason: he isn't ready
I just think Coen did not want to work under Bowles simply because Bowles is the HC and you have to carry Todd.
There are 4.5 million reasons that is probably wrong lol.
Coen would know before the end of th season whether he was likely to see the Bucs fire Bowles for him. Everyone here has a fair idea how their immediate boss is perceived by the owners/upper management.
I just think he got a HC offer that no one would refuse because he was dealing with a desperate buyer.

i mean, the dude hasn't stayed in one place a long time, had that cringe worthy....duuuuvvvaaaall comment.
guy was an awesome play caller in the 1 year with us but clearly volatile given his jumping from similar jobs for Rams and Kentucky, i dont know.
Bucs have ran into the competition being desperate - Carolina and Jacksonville are dumpster fire of franchises and grasping at straws
that being said, what they did, is 100x better than Jets hiring another defensive minded coach or the Raiders going with Carroll. Those franchises are worse than a dumpster fire if we can find a metaphor....maybe a tree in California
Nah Pete Caroll is a stud hire hes a culture changer, similar to arians

agreed
i get the thought behind his hire. He rebuilt teams at USC and Seattle. If he can keep pace at his age he should be able to steady the ship, at a minimum, and do it with defense and even modest QB talent.

Agreed x 2.
Imagine a Todd Bowles Simp saying that Pete Carroll is a trash hiring.
Brady starts off well.

How'd that Bowles getting fired prediction work out for you? Had to make it to champ game you say?
or the
we wont let Coen leave the building
it's ok to be wrong but damn man...would be nice if you were right once in a while

My cashed HR slips say otherwise, lil’ fella.
Just amused that someone who’s constantly on their knees, deep throating mediocrity like you do, would actually think hiring Carroll would be a “trash signing” considering the circumstances.
Coen going to jville was the trash idea so far. He would have done better to stay in Tampa and use that offer from jville to get a better job later if he wanted a hc job. Jville has no winning culture and I don't see how hiring him was step in that direction. Could say they made the trash hire and maybe would have been better suited to hire someone like Carroll. They have to want to go there tho. At least we have a history at this point and something to sell on. I personally think coen and last guy don't even remember his name now who went to Carolina are good coaches but I think we've also been stacked with talent on offense. Part of why Brady came here. Mayfield also played a great role with his ability to extend plays and go with whats in front of him. Instead of taking one of our coaches they should have taken some pages out of our history and tried hard to get someone with a known respect and change that awful culture in jville. Or duuuvall. I'd be happy to see them and coen succeed but if you were a betting man would you?
Well I was right in fearing that we'd keep Bowles and lose Coen... There was that brief moment where I was happy to be wrong but alas Jax threw lots of money at him. I didn't expect Coen to leverage us.
The reality is that Licht did what he could to retain him as an OC but wasn't willing to do what it takes to fire Bowles and keep him.
Based on the last week, I'm kinda glad in some ways we didn't make him head coach. I really love his Xs and Os sans some crap down the stretch but his head coaching ability? I don't think he's ready. Time will tell... Canales wasn't ready either.
But ultimately Licht will have to live with his decision to stick with Bowles and presumably give him more to work with on defense.
As DH and I have said Bowles is a massive liability as a head coach... His defensive scheme isn't great either but Licht chose him over Coen.
So... Time will tell who made the right move. They could both be the wrong move for all we know.
Coen "we have learn how to not lose games. I've learned that from the Rams and other great organizations"
Meaning finding a way to lose winnable games...
Notice how he didn't say the Bucs?
Bowles was a master of finding ways to lose.

bowles is not a good head coach. Don’t think anyone is arguing that point.
i get called a Bowles bro much like I was called a baker bro because I live in reality
Bowles was shit with the jets and never should have been head coach. That being said Bucs made him head coach and they had unforeseen success post Brady, success so great that we haven’t seen it in 2 decades sans Brady. And the fact of the matter is, offense or defense or special teams, the Wikipedia is going to show that bowles was head coach.
Bucs would have had reputation damage by firing Bowles for some inexperienced coordinator. Not only with the locker room but future head coaches
their hands were tied on this
so if Bucs go 6-11 this season and fire Bowles this isn’t a told you so moment but rather living in the real world, they were stuck with mediocre Bowles
