Dink and dunking is smart football and a proven winner.....as long as it is combined with a solid run game, at least 5 deep shots per game, and a mobile QB.

huh?
I have to think they way they gameplanned to beat the seattle D with the screens and dumps. They moved the ball... for the most part it worked, they just couldnt hold onto the ball and Peyton had to balls tipped into INTs.
Manning finished the game with a 5.7 YPA. That's worse than Glennon.
Point? It was about design.Id be completely happy to 5.7 YPA myself downfield and score. Last I checked 5.7 YPA will get you a first down every 3 downs.
It sounds great but it's too hard to be perfect on every single play and defenses are too good to allow every single play to work like that. Eventually someone is going to run the wrong route, throw an incompletion, fumble, etc. You have to get yards in chunks to compensate for errors and good plays by the defense.
or create turnovers and capitalize on them. offenses don't need to be perfect even with a dink and dunk approach, they just need to be efficient, particularly if you have a strong defense

Can't use averages that way or else a RB who averages 2.5 YPC would be the ultimate weapon getting you a first down every 4 downs but yet most RBs average better than 4 yards a carry and can't get a first down in 3 carries.

- Prior to the Super Bowl, Denver’s receivers averaged 6.2 yards after the catch per reception on short passes. Last night the Seahawks held them to just 3.7 and gave up 0 yards after the catch nine times.
You could tell Seattle was prepared for those screens and crossing routes. And with the pressure their DE's were putting on the QB, Denver didn't have the time to do anything else.
Seattle's defense was just out of sight last night. They were so well prepared and focused and they all played out of their mind for the entire game. Every Time a Bronco receiver did make a catch, someone from the Seattle defense would absolutely rock them. It felt like Denver's receivers didn't even want the ball by the end of the first half. Just absolutely brutal game. I think the argument can be made that the Seahawks and the 49ers were the two best teams in the NFL this year. The NFC Championship game was the real Super Bowl in my eyes.

+1, both "running game and defense" teams
Seattle indicated before the game they were not afraid of Manning's arm. They showed it by their tight coverage, and were right to doubt Manning's aged arm. Gotta be able to push it downfield to beat tight coverage, and Manning couldn't do it...

+1, both "running game and defense" teams with great young mobile QBs.
Finished that for ya! ;)

That can work AS LONG AS THE QB KEEPS HIS POISE AND DISCIPLINE UNDER PRESSURE. That's a rarity in QBs. Newton came apart, and to a lesser degree, so did Special K. The real problem with a mobile QB is being able to see the WHOLE field while looking for targets. With a good game plan, a strong-armed smart QB in a good pocket with sound receivers makes the passing game much more productive.
