How are we supposed to feel about the Bucs possibly making the playoffs? Do we "hope" that we can make the playoffs?
"Hope" implies a good feeling that there's some gold at the end of the rainbow how ever minute the possibility of finding it is. If you do find it - Great! You can have a dream that something good will happen.
In the case of "hoping" the Bucs can make the playoffs at 8-9, I just don't have any good feelings about the possibility of a losing team getting squashed in front of the whole nation by the far superior Cowboys, the probable opponent of a 4-5 matchup!
Last year we had false hope because we had Brady. We thought they they could turn on a switch and make a run! Turned out we didn't do that, but even false hope is hope. So it's good to be a fan during that week before the game. We're in the playoffs! Anything can happen!
There is no switch turning on this year. There's no hope of any kind, real or false, playoffs or no playoffs. No illusions this time. So why should we care if the Bucs win the division or not? Why should we have hope for something that we know isn't going to end well even if it occurs?
No. We do not.
Nor should anyone.
No. We do not have the “Brady factor” which we magically hoped would flip on in January
we would lose by 2 touchdowns at best.
that being said, winning the division and making playoffs isn’t a bad thing and something I’d root for even though superbowl isn’t an option.
think about the Bucs playoff seasons sandwiched in between their Super Bowl. We had 2005 and 2007. Neither team had a realistic chance at superbowl but you still loved to see it
Same here. The only downside would be an 8-9 playoff birth would just about save Todd Bowles job and thus mediocry is the best we could hope for in 2024.
no way Bowles gets fired as their would be backlash on glazers for firing him after 2 playoff births
I'd have hope if we could hope to be competitive in even one playoff game. I don't need to have a Superbowl contender to be happy. It's going to be the Cowboys vs. the NFC South champ. You can lock that in. The Cowboys are two games behind the Eagles for the division and two games ahead of Seattle for the top WC spot. "Any given Sunday" they say. Nope. I'm not so sure it would save Bowles job either, to get in the playoffs at 8-9 again and get blown out. It's just a technicality. It doesn't change the facts about how Bowles coached the team and that he doesn't seem to be a very good head coach.No. We do not have the “Brady factor” which we magically hoped would flip on in January

Nope for hope.
Bowles is atrocious but if this team finishes 4-2 with 4 division wins and a playoff birth he gets another year
the odds of that happening are currently 2% so I wouldn’t worry about it

4-2 won't get them in. They have to go 5-0 in the NFC games.
I would have hope if they play Trask this week, he throws for 250+ and 2+ TDs with no turnovers and they eek out wins in Atlanta and GB with him. If I see little Baker vs Carolina this week I have no hope, even if they win by 50.
I'm no dope. Nope on the hope.
No.
The defense is one of the worst in the NFL, our HC has terrible game management decision making, and we have an offense that's one dimensional.
I think we sweep CAR and finish with 6 wins and finish around the top 10 in the draft.
Anything is possible but this team hasn’t given fans a reason to believe it could run the table from here

not necessarily
Saints have Detroit, Carolina, Giants, Rams, Bucs, and Falcons left. Assuming they lose to Bucs, Detroit, and Rams (certainly possible how Rams are playing at 6-6), the Saints can win Carolina, Giants, and Falcons (in New Orleans) and be 8-9 and we have the tie breaker
Falcons have @Jets, Tampa, @Carolina, Colts, @ Bears, and @ Saints.
would need to assume 2 losses to Tampa and Saints. then, is it possible the Falcons go 4-0 against Jets, Carolina, Colts, and Bears. Sure is but highly unlikley and all they need to do is drop one.
For the sake of argument, assume they go 8-9, win the division and play the Cowboys in the playoffs as a losing team. Would you buy tickets? Would you tailgate? Would you have a watch party? How will you feel about that game when the result will inevitably be the Bucs get crushed? Or do you think they'd have a chance to win that game?
That's what I'm trying to gauge here. Is it really better for the Bucs to get in the playoffs with a losing record than it is to miss the playoffs?
Winning is better than losing. But if it means we can get a good helpful player to build around then draft choice isn't bad but they gotta make the right choice. They're ok at drafting. Why I wouldn't mind seeing the winning culture grow.
Is there hope? No way Jose with Mayfield as the QB.
