Lol @ comb over. I never noticed that he had a comb over hair cut until now. Looks like a Dying old man with no bottom teeth smiling at you.
I don't dislike it as much as I did initially....but I'm definitely not wowed or impressed. I think it could have been done so much better. I love all the concepts, but feel the execution is very lacking. Buccaneers.com completely dropped the ball also, by using reveal pics that made it appear to be black. How the fuck does that happen?! Lol. We got McDonald workers running One Buc? Like I said though, I love the concepts just not the execution....kinda like Buc football in recent years! :PThe idea of a hand painted helmet with lighter and darker shades of grey to give a worn effect is 100% awesome. The fact that it's still very sparkly and shiny....not so much. If it was a duller matte finish without the sparkle, the hand painted areas would be much more noticeable and it would be more of a pewter look. The idea of a cleaner more modern logo was great, but a completely symmetrical skull with no emotion or character, and a pristine flag that isn't ripped, torn, of worn....not so much. I do like the new swords though, and the fact that they are all grey/white.The chrome facemask to give us a unique feel is a solid idea, but they way it was done looks a little dated. For one, it looks more stainless steal then chrome. It's not actually mirror finish like chrome. Secondly, to fit with the pewter is seems like we should have used black chrome, which isn't really black, it's just a darker tint instead of being bright silver. Maybe this will make more sense when we see the uniforms? Also, college teams like the Ducks that use chrome face masks have a wide center stripe down the middle of the facemask painted the helmet color. It adds a two toned look that is very cool and more importantly it stops sun glare on the area directly in front of the players eyes. Not sure why we didn't do that. Finally there is the oversized flag. I love this idea and have been banging the drum for it for over a year now. The thing is, to do it right you have to go all the way with it. You can't worry about little bits of it being clipped by face mask, ear hole, or neck pad. Having it so big that it is partially off the canvas is what sells the look. The way they made it just big enough to fit perfectly without any cropping makes it look kinda silly and cramped imo. It was one of those things where if you are gonna do it, you have to be bold and go all the way....but it feels like he kinda half ass'd that part.In the end, it's just a logo and it isn't embarrassingly bad....so it's not the end of the world. It's just a bit of a let down for many because they built it up for three days and then delivered a final product that doesn't really look all that updated or "enhanced". It looks more 1994 than 2014 and I think they missed a great opportunity here. The jersey redesign is the big one though. I slightly different logo won't effect sales that much, but the new jersey will have a huge impact on how much $$$ is made on Buccaneers gear over the next several years. Fingers crossed for something a little better executed and modern.
Not bad, not good just meh.Like the darker helmet and the lighter grill.Logo change isn't much.Size looks strange.
The logo and concept are very well done. From a marketing perspective, all change is risky because humans start from an "I don't like change" perspective. The very large positive response on these boards -- where one finds some of the most dedicated fans -- is a big win for the Bucs. Even the terminally grouchy and over-sensitive on this board seem to begrudgingly acknowledge that it was a good change.Curious to see what remains to unfold as part of their new brand rollout. . . . more ahead
Me too Vince !

Me too. I hope the new jerseys make me want to run out and blow a bunch of cash on a Lavonte David jersey.
A lot of people are saying how the new logo is growing on them. Eventually, most will like it. Personally, I like it more every time I look at it.And the Bucs really did drop the ball on that released photos that look like a black helmet. The posting on PFT looks like we threw our new logo on a Falcons helmet.

they hope that too, but they also hope you see all of the new branding as a "new team" or, at least, as the team going into a new phase. I would imagine there will be new signage, some changes at the stadium. . . and much more. Huge undertaking.
Skull is lame, font is lame. The rest I'm okay with.
This is where I'm at too. Would just prefer they kept the old logo and slapped it on the new helmets. I dig the new pirate ship though.
SMHHow can you look at the old logo next to the new one and think the old one is better? That's ridiculous.
Off topic a bit, this is further evidence that no one can call the Glazers cheap anymore.Just imagine what its going to cost to change all the logos at Ray Jay, One Buc Place, etc...Money they didn't have to spend. At all. But it was well worth it, IMO.
Well any backlash they get is well deserved imo. You don't create an event with a 3 day build up, on NFL Network when the new look hardly looks new. If they would have just called a press conference and released it one day as a surprise with no build up....I think it would have gotten a better reception. They built up expectations so high that it would have been hard to meet them, and then showed us a product that made many say "meh" Releasing it without the full uniform seems like a stupid mistake too. Seeing the entire package would have provided much more boom for the buck. Combine that with the initial release pics making it appear black and coming out on the internet 30 minutes before the NFL Network reveal.....and I'd say somebody in advertising needs to be fired. They really blew what should have been a very positive change.
The color is better. The skull is better. The cheesy shading is gone. The come-over is gone. The sword handles are better. The sword blades are better. The football is better. The silver is an upgrade over the gray.

The black laces always bothered me. Footballs don't have black laces. When you see them side by side, there's no comparison. The new one is exponentially better.

Releasing it before the new unis is dumb. Agreed. But the only reason people are disappointed is because they overlooked the word "enhanced" used by the Buccaneers in their release announcing the changes coming. The Bucs never used the word "new" prior to this.
