Is Simeon Rice eligible yet?

last played in 2007.  Now rice was a great player and should be considered but I just don't see he as HOF worthy.

He's not a slam dunk but I think he deserves be a HOFer.

Honestly I think Brooks and Strahan are fairly even.  They both would get my vote over the others.

This is Strahan's 2nd ballot, so all you "no 1st time" guys should be cool to throw in for him.I don't see how there is any discussion.  Agree with S&B.  DB and Strahan are the locks out of this class imo.  I think Walter Jones is very deserving as well but would put both in over him.

HoF voting is pretty dumb in general. I feel bad for the players who have to go through it. Not that bad considering they made millions of dollars (usually) , but relatively bad.

DB55...You could debate whether Brooks is a top 5 OLB of all time. Strahan is not in the top 5 of great DEs.

If I had to choose between the two, DB.  11 pro bowls and 9 all pros.  DPOTY.  I do think MS was one of the top 5 DEs in the modern era.  Walter Jones is deserving as well.  Not so sure on Dungy or Harrison.

exactly. Brooks reinvented the way the OLB position is played. Strahan didn't change anything about the DE position. guys like Brooks, Ray Lewis, and Lawrence Taylor changed the way their position was viewed and player

Brooks over Jones but not Strahan. Jones might have been the best LT of all time. I think he only got called for holding something like 9 times in his entire career which is just absolutely insane. he literally would erase the passrusher on his side

I am surprised he didn't make it in last year. Warren likes to make a big thing out of that sack Favre "gave" Strahan.  But big deal, that one may have been bogus, but the other 140 were legit.

So prefacing this with the fact that i never really thought that rice was worthy of the hall of fame.......doing a quick bit of research, it appears as though strahan and rice had fairly similar careers.  It looks like all strahan really has on rice is a dpoy award, but rice can counter with a droy award (not as cool, but you know, its kinda close).  similar all-pro numbers, strahan beats him in pro bowls, but big deal...its a popularity contest.  Sack numbers are relatively similar.  strahan is 5th all time, rice is 15th.All things considered (strahan playing on the easy side and all), if you are going to put strahan in...i think you have to put rice in too.  and again, i dont really think rice deserves it all that much...which leads me to believe that strahan doesnt deserve it all that much.kinda shocking when i sit there and look at it objectively. He didnt do all that much more than another guy, that i think we can all agree was pretty awesome, but not hall of fame worthy.  He didnt revolutionize his position like brooks or sapp or lewis or sanders or any of those other guys.i think the bottom line is...strahan doesnt deserve to go in.  pretty shocking.

One area where they differ is, Strahan is a regular on TV, while Rice is home preparing for a trip to Mars.
