Jones, Strahan, and Brooks are sure bets to get in this year.
Dungy ?
DB55...You could debate whether Brooks is a top 5 OLB of all time. Strahan is not in the top 5 of great DEs.
Derrick Brooks is often mentioned along with Jack Ham as the prototypical WILL. Warren Sapp has said DB was the best player on the Bucs while he was there. Ira should stand up, say those two sentences and sit down.
First of all, Strahan already missed out on the 1st ballot. This is his 2nd try.2nd, I'm Sapp's biggest fan and I usually find a way to laugh and defend most of what he says, but this one is baffling. Dude, you already got in the HOF OVER Strahan last year. Your point was made. Let it go.3rd, Strahan should def be in the HOF. No debate. Not over Brooks, but he should get in this year. I also think Simeon should eventually get in. He doesn't get as much praise as he deserves

i dunno man. rice just isnt all that...hall of fame worthy. he doesnt seem to have that "it". I think we could debate lynch, and maybe even barber (though i think the last few years cemented barber). but rice? no...he wont make it. then, holding up strahan to rice, and saying is this dude (strahan) worthy, when this dude (rice) isnt? i think the answer is no.the more i think about it, the more im voting strahan down every year if i was a voter. he was never top 5 in his position, never super feared, never game planned around, never revolutionized his position...maybe on a lean year?but keep in mind, hes number 5 in total sacks, but the dude who is number 3 in total sacks also isnt in the hall of fame.i dunno. im not a voter. but the way i see things, you just cant let rice in...and then holding up strahan to rice (the guy you just cant let in)...you cant let strahan in either
Don't care if Strahan makes it or not. Double Nickel better make the cut. Jones? Yep. Lynch? Not yet, big guy. Dungy? Love TD but his coaching resume isn't first ballot material. Had he gotten the Bucs to the SB....even if he didnt win it, I'd be inclined to say yes. He'll be there eventually, I just don't think it will be this year. Harrison? Emmm. Tough one.
If I had to choose between the two, DB. 11 pro bowls and 9 all pros. DPOTY. I do think MS was one of the top 5 DEs in the modern era. Walter Jones is deserving as well. Not so sure on Dungy or Harrison.
Dungy is a lock to the HOF. Only reason he probably won't make it this year is he's still young enough to realistically coach again. But as for getting in he is 100% guaranteed. First black coach to win the Super Bowl. No way he doesn't get in. Even if everyone thought he was a black Barry Switzer who stumbled into it.
"the more i think about it, the more im voting strahan down every year if i was a voter. he was never top 5 in his position, never super feared, never game planned around."I have to disagree with you on all accounts. He was one of the top 5 DEs of the last 20 years. At one point he was the best in the league. You don't think a guy with 22 sacks in one season wasnt feared or game planned around? But you could say all those things about Ronde Barber.

Let's see:Reggie WhiteBruce SmithChris DolemanHowie LongJared AllenJulius PeppersDwight FreeneyI'll let people rank them but I don't see how Strahan makes the top 5 and if he does it's dead last at #5. J.J. Watts should be on that list soon enough as well.Ranked #23 here: http://greatest-players.com/NFL-Defensive-Ends.htm Ranked #6 here: http://www.ranker.com/list/all-time-greatest-nfl-defensive-ends/cptron Ranked #4 here: http://whatfanswanttohear.sportsblog.com/posts/46390/top_10_all_time_nfl.html Not in top 5 here: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ac-6906140 Not in top 10 here: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/writer/pete-prisco/22351145/the-10-best-pass-rushers-of-al Not in top 10 here either: http://shareranks.com/432,Greatest-Defensive-Linemen-of-All-Time I just don't see much to support a hypothesis that Strahan is a top 5 all-time player.
I didn't say top 5 of all time but since the 90s....yeah.

That list is from the 90's and up. I omitted the people before that. Next! :PRate these players and insert Michael Strahan where you feel he belongs: (Feel free to add anyone else you want to the list - from the 90's up)Reggie WhiteBruce SmithChris DolemanHowie LongJared AllenJulius PeppersRichard DentJason TaylorSimeon RiceThis list is in no specific order.
I forget to add Jason Taylor, Richard Dent, and Simeon Rice. That should be good enough for now but add more if you want. :)
Strahan was clearly had a better career than Rice. I also put him above Taylor, Peppers, Long and Dent (but it's close). Say he's about equal with Dolman and possible Allen if Allen has a few more good years. But regardless of personal opinions he is definitely in the same conversation with all those guys. Certainly deserving of the HOF.

He is worthy of being on the top 25 list and deserving of the HoF. I just think it will take him a few more tries until the HoF class is average.

like i said: i went into this conversation assuming that strahan was a lock for the hall. Its when he is compared to another guy that i dont think is really all that deserving (though others do) that i find im not all that sold on strahan's worthiness.i humbly disagree that he was top 5. top 10 most definitely, but top 5? no. And we will honestly never have a true comparison thanks to the side he played on. Feared...ok, maybe...but you dont game plan a defensive end the way you change your passing game for a shutdown corner, or even to quite the same level as a dominant dt.i guess what my overall conclusion is: strahan is not worthy because guys like rice are not worthy...and if strahan *IS* worthy in his second, or even third ballot, then rice MUST be worthy in his 8th or 9th ballot.another post argues that strahan had a better career than rice, and i agree, he did. but not SO much better that you can say one of them belongs in the hall of fame, and the other in the hall of very good.
Yep, I believe he should be in the HOF.
